Who Really Benefits? Examining the Gap Between Policy and the People

Despite the government's claim to invest heavily in different aspects of life to ease the burden on the average man and improve the economy, it's no news that the majority of those literally don't help the poor and average man, and this has made many people wonder if governments are actually for all or if they're mostly just there to man policies that help the poor and only the poor, not caring how such affects the common man. In light of that, I also have my concern, and although I've come to some understanding, that's why today I'll be talking about what I think is wrong and how that can be rectified for the greater good of everyone.

Firstly, I must note that the rate at which corruption has eaten up our system and economy is alarming, and if nothing is done soon, we might end up in a state where all the nation's land and assets would have been used as collateral for the various loans being taken with the disguise that they're trying to help the country and skyrocket our economy. So what then is the cause of the majority of the government efforts and policies not having a positive impact on the lives of the average man?

One of the reasons why I believe many of these policies don't have a positive impact on the average man isn't actually the fault of the government but of our people and those in charge of those policies or beneficiaries of the policies that would have improved lives if they had been properly used. Take for instance government will give farmers and businesses owners grant of free grains and fertilizers so it can help boost the production of food and their businesses, but at the end of the day when these crops yield, you'll find same set id people selling at a high price, it's not ideal and that's as a result of their greed.

Still on the people the government put in charge of various policies to help the economy, and yet they're the ones behind everything going the other way round. An example is Emefiele, the former CBN governor who misused his office to start giving his friends dollars at the normal rate, only for his friends to take the same dollars to the black market to sell at the black market rate, after which they'll return back the dollar to him, although these helped us friends because they became richer overnight without doing anything special, but what it did to the economy was affect it, ruin our currency to the point where it couldn't be sustainable for the average man.

We can't disregard the fact that the government is also at fault in what's happening to our economy and the average man, because some of their policies only favor the rich and some of their close pals. For instance, it's crazy how they'll close the border so that some food items won't come in for the average man to be relieved of the harsh economy, while their rich pals, like Dangote, get to ship and import whatever they want to the country. This isn't right, and that's why our government must do better, make the same laws and policies for everyone, and fact-check and vet anyone place in charge of different aspects.
