Community service is a noble course that we all ought to embark on on a regular basis so as to bring about a progressive difference in our society, and including students in secondary school level woulf go a long way in brooding lots of positivity in them that'll go on the influence their mind towards good nation building and empathetic citizens going forward. Yes I said it'll be a good thing to let secondary school students indulge in community service, however would it be ideal for such to be mandated to the point where they can forfeit their graduation for not partaking? Find out my take on this below.

It's worth knowing that I totally agree with the need to inbile secondary school students in this noble act, although I don't bid the idea of making it a strict graduation requirement, it's best to be included in the school extracurricular activities that requires mandatory participation just as we've got interhouse sports and the likes, and if these can be done it'll go a long way in changing the orientation of these youngsters, who don't really understand the need for noble act such as community service. We've seen many just throw trash anywhere on the street, without flinching, but when they understand the consequences of improper waste disposal and the amount of effort requires to clean it alongside other community services, I believe this will make them be an agent of change, that not only initiate the change, but also encourage other to partake in it.
And here are some of the major reasons why I believe it'll be a good idea, simply because I have the belief that partaking in community service will teach students and young minds things they make not fully grasp it meaning in the classroom. Take for instance selflessness, you can't fully grasp it meaning and importance, except you learn that contributing to the betterment of our society isn't just about our personal gain, but that of the general public. Community service will also go a long way in teaching students about taking responsibility, given the fact that they can become more accountable for things they do that could affect others, another important one like I stated above is empathy, given the that they'll get to see many things new that it's different from their own lives, via helping the vulnerable people and also partaking in exercise that improves their environment.
Another thing it'll go on to improve and shows the great side of community service to students is how it'll enhance their teamwork and leadership skills, take for instance how they'll recognise the need to plant trees and come together to encourage it amongst their pairs, or even helping elderly people and the likes.
But if should were to be made mandatory to the point of it leading to forfeiting their graduation, that's ridiculous in my opinion and here are some of the reasons why I don't agree with such, imagine a student who has disability, and can't partake in such community service, do we then deprived them of graduating because of their disabilities that has lead to their inability to take part in community service?
At the end of the day we much understand that it's almost impossible to teach selflessness when the method we're using to brood it in students is threaten students with purnishment, because by so doing, they might only take part in it just to get the necessary credentials and stop immediately they've graduated, so that obviously isn't the right part to follow, let them do it in love without an atom of threat just to make them do it.
So overall, my take is that I one hundred percent buy the ideal of community service for secondary school students, what I don't agree with it's the mandatory part that counts lead to forfeiting their graduation aspect.
