How the School We Attend Can Shape Our Future

The school we attend, the lessons we learnt and the people we meet during those moments are an important part of our lives and to be very honest even though I love the people Meet during my school days, I can't help but wish I attended a different school, not because I think my school is entirely bad, but because I believe if I had attended a different school, my life and the opportunity I'd be open would have made me a better person than I'm today. Below I'd tell you why and the school I believe would have made a difference.

For those who don't know, I attended ekiti state university and that's where I had my university education, if I'm being honest I must say that had I attend a different university, I would have gotten far more better teaching and gain more valuable knowledge about my course of study than I did in the school I attended and that's because the school seems to be substandard, they don't teach practical aspects of my course of study, despite the fact we pay huge amount. Aside from that, I also wish I attended a better school because of the opportunity that students of those institutions are open to.

For instance, most of my colleagues who graduated from my school mostly get employed as teachers or bankers; aside from that, we aren't opportune to other great offers that would make one earn more money for service rendered. I remember applying for a position and then gave me a ridiculous pay, meanwhile same person that was employed alongside me from graduated from Unilag, was paid three times what I was paid because of the institution he attended and the opportunity he'll most likely bring to the organisation due to the connection he has from attending that institution.

Now it's not like I don't like the connection I made in the school I attended, it just that we're mostly from a poor background and there's little to nothing we can offer each other, compare to people who attend institutions such as covenant or Unilag, where concrete connections are built, that helps shape ones career wherever you find yourself.

So in a nutshell, that's why I wish I attended a different school, either of the two I mentioned above would be nice, because there I'd be taught well, become a master of my subject from what I was taught and not have to start paying to learn outside what I ought to have been taught in school, and would also get connected to high profile individual and friends who can connect me to life changing opportunities that would have made my life better than it it.

The school we attend can play a vital role in how our lives turn out, and that's why if we have the opportunity to attend a better school, we should give it all it takes to do that because of all the opportunities one would be opened to. I've witnessed this myself, and that's why I've vowed to make sure I give my children the best education they can get. God help me. Because I want them to have a better life than I did.

I used to wonder why people did this but I got older, I too have understood that you have to invest in building meaning connections for yourself and even your children.
