Does the Motive Behind Charity Really Matter?

Charity is a noble cause and that's because of how those who engage it in meet the needs of others through giving out gifts such as cash, household resources among many other things to name but few. Everyone whose needs as been met would have something nice to say about charity givers, because at the end of the day you can't blame them if they don't help you as each person is responsible for themselves. So in the light of that, how would I feel if my needs was met via a charity act and I later found they only did it just to chase clout. Find out my take and response to this below.

To be honest, it's worth knowing that I would necessarily be angry about it, in fact I'll accept the support or help if it's something I genuinely need, and that's because either I like it or not, my needs as been met. Charity is generally seen as an act of showing compassion and kindness and the beauty of charity is in the genuine desire to help others and meet their needs. It's concerning though when people engage in charitable act for ulterior motives such as for them go gain followers, publicity,praise and the likes. When they do this, even though they've meet people's need, I think the motive in a way takes away the beauty that comes with charity.

However, beyond that , personally I don't think people should reject charity or help because of the motive behind such, especially if they genuinely need the support at that moment, I can't imagine what reason would make you reject a money that could help you get a necessary health treatment timely or school fee among several others just because you don't like how the helper wants to use it to chase clout, in my opinion, Baba abeg help me, if you like use me do content, but then meet my needs. At the end of the day what we must understand is that even though the helpers intention isn't pure, one thing that's real is the recipient immediate needs.

At the end of the day, if we reject such help , another reason why I'll be collecting such help or support regardless Is because, me rejecting it won't change the helpers motive, in fact he could leave me and find someone else who won't mind being use for clout as long as their needs are met, had I reject such assistance, in the end such could leave me in a worst situation that I'm currently at, especially if I don't get help from elsewhere. The fact that I accept the help that meets my needs doesn't mean I'm celebrating the motive behind the helpers actions, in advent that such help comes my way, I'll accept it because it meets my needs and I don't need to pretend I love their motive. What I'll do though is to show genuine gratitude for their charity that improves my situation.

One thing though that I believe many are skeptical about is how charity ought to preserve the dignity of the recipient of such help, and in the case of publicity, it's worth knowing that those who want to give for publicity sake must first give the recipient a choice to either agree or decline, not just capturing them and uploading online without their consent. But if we're talking about what I'll do personally, just as I've stated above, I'll be accepting the help if I'm genuinely in need of that thing, but if it's not something I needed desperately, I'll decline it.
