Child Influencers: Opportunity, Responsibility, and the Need for Protection

With the advent of digitalization and social media, a lot of job opportunities have been open to people as an opportunity to earn, such as special media influencers. Which is basically people who create different kinds of content on their social media, gain lots of followers, have a niche, get engagement on their content, and get paid for doing that. Since its discovery, many people have delved into this, and nowadays we've even seen kids jump on it, maybe because their parents control the account or allow them to do so. But is it right to allow kids to be influencers, knowing some of the dangers associated with such?

If I'm being honest, I don't really see anything bad in having kids become influencers, because it's either that they do it themselves with their parents' guidance or the parents literally do everything but use the child as the main character. Take for instance, I've seen lots of kid influencers, and I love most of them. For instance, there's this man whose content I usually see on the internet; he basically acts as though he's having a conversation with his daughter and getting a response right from when she was as young as a week old. It's usually kind of funny and enjoyable.

I've watched the content till that daughter of his grew to about five years old, when they had another baby, and he continues the trend. I've also seen a woman who calls her baby 10 kg and does all sorts of content with it. It's also funny and enjoyable, although the first man's own was kind of educational too. If parents allow their kids to be influencers or use them as one, then they must make sure the kids benefit from the rewards that come from the earnings by helping them save up for their future and also buying some of their basic needs or important stuff that could aid their intelligence.

But then, beyond that, such parents must be ready to safeguard their kids from the dangers that are associated with such a profession and educate the kids on what to do and what not to do so they can be aware and not let their status get to their heads or arrive at a point where they'll think they don't need education because they are already earning via being an influencer. Basically everything is all about moderation, watchfulness, and the like.

We live in different times, and we all know how bad things are, so if parents have an idea on how to earn money on the internet or see that their kids have a skill that can be showcased on the internet to further boost the incoming revenue of the family, then they should go ahead with it. After all, everyone is putting in effort, and so the parents deserve some part of what is earned and can use it to give their kids the best of everything. Although that doesn't mean they'll make their kids the family breadwinner, parents should still play their role, but that shouldn't stop the child from following their dreams if they have what it takes.

Good read. Success at a young age can be exciting but making sure they stay grounded is just as important.
