Be Still: Finding Direction in Quiet Moments

Taking a time out or engaging in quiet time is a very good thing and an avenue for us to shut out the busy and noisy world, so we can use that moment to have an uninterrupted reflection about our lives and help us think about ways to better our lives. Many of us find it difficult to take quiet time because our world is a busy one filled with loads of activities that could get us engaged and distracted from having deep thoughts to reflect on our lives, and that's why it's important that at least once in a while we find ways to engage in it. Am I engaging in quiet time? If yes, when last did I do that? Find out my response to those questions and several others relating to the subject matter below.

To be honest, prior to this year I hardly engaged in quiet time on a regular basis; it just comes with the flow of time and situations of things. However, since the beginning of this year there has been a positive turnaround in that aspect, because now a week hardly goes by without me finding time to just distance myself from the drama of my society and just take out time to reflect on my life. Talk sense to myself, evaluate my life, point out what I'm doing right and wrong, and also reflect on possible solutions and things I can engage in to better my life situation, family, and all that concerns me.

Since I've started indulging myself in constant quiet time, I've come to become more intentional about my life, the actions I take, and more. It has helped me take proactive steps and calculated risks, which keeps me safe from the dangers that follow rash and hasty actions and decisions. Although there is still room for improvement, I must say that seeing the changes I've experienced in the past few months, I can't help but somewhat regret how I didn't start indulging in quiet time long before now. But then that's in the past and behind me; the best way forward is to make sure I do it more frequently and make sure it's worth the time by producing results that make my today and future better than my yesterday.

Talking about when last I took a time out to listen to my own thoughts and reflect without distractions of this world, it's quite close because this past Friday was the last time I engaged in such quiet time that gave me an opportunity to critically think about my life, scrutinize different possibilities that might follow action I'm proposing if taken, and several other things. Also, it was during that reflection that I got to further understand the importance of good health, especially when it comes to every part of our body and how a simple injury to one part can put the entire body in chaos. This helps me appreciate good health more, especially given the injury I sustained last week.

Talking about its benefits to my life and the changes it has brought, like I stated above, it's been a blessing to me to the point where I wish I had indulged in it all my life. But then it's all good, because I'm now aware of its benefits and would certainly indulge in it more often so that I can take proactive calculated steps and reflect on my life, both past, present, and future actions.
