My Privacy, My Right: Safety Should Not Come at the Cost of Losing Myself/ Identity.

I prioritize my privacy and that's one way to stay safe in our current world. Being private guarantees safety in many ways . Giving my precious privacy to a government that has done little or nothing to control insecurity in a country like mine and done nothing to safeguard its citizens. That's like giving out my own power, giving out myself and personal protection.
I will always choose to keep my privacy and not take the risk of sharing with anyone.

Giving out my privacy for protection to a government that doesn't prioritize or care about my safety is like endangering myself and making myself vulnerable to harms and risk.
Protection coming at the cost of my privacy is really a dangerous deal, especially in my country and I can't agree with that. No protection should come with the cost of my privacy and full access to my life.
Giving out my privacy doesn't even guarantee my safety and protection in my country, it could cause some harm, which I will further explain in this post.

In a country like mine, where there's no proper surveillance of public places and activities, then how would the government control the privacy of each citizen in a populated country like Nigeria? It seems very impossible though.

A country where people get away with crimes committed in open places, because the government has failed to monitor the citizens in public places. I believe in civilized countries there are CCTV monitors in public places. The government of Nigeria should start with monitoring activities in public places first, and not deny citizens their privacy.
The government is yet to catch those who commit public crimes in the market, malls, major streets and roads. How would mine as a citizen be seen amongst many other citizens? I find this funny.

Nigeria is a place where the citizens protect themselves and the government cannot help. Even if all the citizens give out our privacy, it doesn't change anything. Instead, that will endanger everyone, because we can't even trust those watching, those who watch and keep tabs of your absence, weaknesses and activities, and these could be used to hurt an individual. This could even lead to easy ways to kidnap, steal and commit several crimes. I can't trust those who monitor.

Not to forget that there could be a hack or unauthorized access to the cameras watching and these could lead to several problems. We all prioritize our privacy. These are moments when we just want to be ourselves, share some information with ourselves and do things without fear of another watching, and you find yourself being blackmailed or publicized for an activity that was meant to be private. This will lead to sabotage and be misused by others. Everyone deserves a right to have their privacy without fear of being watched.
A monitor like this should only be given to those who are guilty of some huge crime like murder, not innocent citizens whose privacy should be respected.

My privacy is my private life and I wouldn't want it to be shared. It's also a way I use to protect myself. I can't trust the Nigerian government with my privacy. The government has many means to protect citizens but has failed in all those ways. Giving out my privacy won't help minimize or control insecurity. The government can utilize many ways, security doesn't have to come with an exchange that could risk my safety in the end.
My privacy is forever my right, and not a tool for bargaining with a failed government.
