LEARNING HAS NO FINISH LINE: I’M MOVING AT MY OWN PACE

Learning a new thing can never feel the same for me, different knowledge comes with different experiences for me. Some knowledge requires less patience, less effort and doesn't waste time, while others require patience, repeated practice and even frustration. This is totally fine, learning comes at a different pace for different people and being slow at learning doesn't mean a person is unintelligent or incapable of doing a thing, they are just learning at their own pace.

I have found many skills and things easy to learn, and they include writing, cooking, reading, communication and many more. For the purpose of this prompt I will be discussing one, which is writing. Writing is one of the skills that I learnt easily. Expressing my thoughts, opinions and beliefs through writing is a skill I learned easily. Writing is a skill I learned from reading. As a person who loved reading literature, I loved how this writer used words to express, criticize, tell stories and mirror society. I love writing and, for me, it was easy learning to write because there is always something to write about and writing built my confidence, and you learn more as you keep writing. It was easy learning to write, because I could just wake up with an idea, organize those ideas and thoughts together, and turn them into beautiful pieces. I have learnt through writing that when you love a particular skill or knowledge, learning that skill/ knowledge won't seem like a task to you, but rather an experience you keep looking forward to and keep doing for pleasure.

On the other hand, I have experienced skills that I find difficult to learn, skills that, even with much interest, I find myself not getting it right and one of the skills is drawing. I admire those that draw, those people that do magic with a pencil. Drawing is one skill I admire and wish I could learn, but each time I try I just get more difficult. Learning how to draw and sketch beautiful pictures and beautiful places is a skill that I have spent time from childhood to develop, but it's never easy for me, there's always an error and I gave up on attempting drawing. I would watch an artist draw and keep wondering why it seems so simple and easy for them, drawing is really a unique skill and I admire those who get it right and perfect. Not just drawing, but also dancing and more I can't remember.

However, I have come to realize that the fact that I struggle with certain skills doesn't mean I'm incapable of learning them, they just require extra patience, effort, determination and time. I appreciate those that can perform these skills I struggle with effortlessly and not compare myself with them, because we all learn different skills at different paces and that's what I have come to understand. I just have to focus on the progress I make in learning these skills and one day I could be good at them too.

Being able to learn some skills effortlessly has taught me that. I learn a skill better when I'm determined to learn, patient enough to learn the skill and willing not to give up on the learning process and if I should give the same effort to things I can do, I will be able to do them too. Learning teaches us more about ourselves, our strengths, weaknesses, resilience and ability, some skills and lessons we learn come easily while others require hardwork and that's totally fine. We just have to learn at our own pace and time.

Thanks for reading ♥️
