Healthy Parenting : Supervision And Open Communication Over Privacy.

The issue of kids privacy is a thoughtful and controversial topic in our society.
Different parents, have different opinions on how their kids should be raised , especially in today's world, where there are lot of mediums children could get influenced negatively.
Personally, I believe kids have no business with privacy. Children are immature, they can easily be influenced with any information they watch and hear , the only way this can be avoided is by supervising them always, especially at early stages of their lives.
Giving your child privacy is like permitting them to do whatsoever they want, they aren't adults and if they need a time of their own, that's where boundaries set in , not privacy.
Proper discipline cannot be achieved through giving kids privacy.

When it involves raising kids there should be a balance, in as much as kids don't need or have no business with privacy, they also want to create some boundaries to feel respected too.
The open doors policy could get really inconveniencing for them especially when they start developing physically, and at that point I believe their privacy should be respected, that is where we need to learn to knock on their door before opening, regardless of the fact that you raised them and have seen every part of them , they also deserve some respect and parents need to understand that they are crossing boundaries at this point, if they come into their room without permission or notification.
The open door policy is acceptable when kids are younger, when they start growing fully, developing and feel the need to be left alone, there should be a boundary, invading in their privacy at this point is totally wrong and inconveniencing to them.

I would prefer as parents, you should have a private keys to your kids room for inspection, just to see if they are developing dangerous habits, addictions or self harming themselves.
Also, it's important to build concrete and good relationships with your kids to enable them stay free and open with you at all time, make them understand that you are their safe space and they should feel comfortable to be vulnerable around you at all point, and learn to not trust strangers.
I feel open and often communication is one of the keys to good upbringing, especially in our society today.
Most times kids misinterprets actions taken by their parents as control or even hatred, they don't understand that certain things are done because of the love and care you have for them.

The best way in making kids feel you aren't being so invasive to their privacy is by making them understand that you trust them , regardless of how insecure you are , or how scared you feel about them going far from you, it's important to make them feel you trust them, always having conversations with them, the best way to understand children is by being their friend, learning to communicate often with them and making them feel it's normal to feel a certain way and how to overcome peer pressure when it comes.
Parenting can be quite difficult, but then I have seen kids who see their parents as friends and kids who are scared of their parents, there is always a big different, so building a good relationship with your kid is very necessary, because when there's a good relationship between parents and children, the kids won't see the need for privacy.
