Democracy is undoubtedly , the best and most efficient system of leadership that grants freedom, equality , fairness and protection to citizens.
Democracy gives power and equality to all citizens , and not just the upper class or powerful elites, it recognizes the voice of the poor masses and grants fairness to all citizens.
What I love about the practice of democracy system of government is that it brings justice , promote equality and fair hearing .
Democracy is not practiced in Africa countries, especially Nigeria.
It's not regarded , it's neglected and not even practiced because of corruption, bad leadership and exploitation.
Democracy isn't practiced here in Nigeria , which is obvious in many ways, which include the unfairly treatment given to poor masses, curruption , electoral malpractice, rigging and violence during elections, intimidation, dominance, and many more.
One of the features of democracy is fairness and freedom of speech, which Nigerians have been deprived of incessantly, especially during peaceful protest , a very remarkable experience is what happened at Lekki tourgate 2020 , where a peaceful protest lead to the death of many young people, due to an order given by a dictators who claim to be a Democratic leaders.
Electoral malpractice also prevails in Nigeria, and if we truly practice democracy then we should be given the opportunity to chose our own leaders, our votes shouldn't be rigged and manipulated.
During the last election in Nigeria, we all saw how outrageous the budget was, in a country that we have the worse health care sector, bad roads that keep causing accidents in various parts of the country, and many other problems election, but yet we couldn't get the leader we all voted for due to rigging and electoral malpractice.
And this isn't democracy is anyway, but rather oligarchy and authoritarian government.
In a Democratic State, I believe there would be no corruption, but here in Nigeria, there is corruption is every tier of government, in every sector of government.
Excessive exploitation affecting poor citizens and oppression, dominance and no freedom of speech.
We can't call or categorize Nigeria and most African countries as Democratic states, democracy is just a title or name in this part of the world, because we suffer the opposite, we don't practice democracy, but rather ruled by dictators, that don't care about the masses or care about their voices, complains, lives, choice and opinions
Like I wrote in the beginning, democracy is the most efficients and reliable system of government, there's no other form of leadership that is better than a government that promotes justice, equality, fairness and peace among the citizens, since democracy is just a name in the part of the world that's not practiced, them we should consider restructured democracy here in Nigeria.
There should be an amendment , we stick to true democracy and eliminate old leaders.
To me this would lead to prosperity in Nigeria, it's only true democracy, that would lead to equality and fairness.
Our problem isn't the system of government, but rather our leaders who have refused to abide by the rule of law, decided promote corruption, and injustice.
Thanks for reading♥️
PICTURES ARE MINE.
I love that you said democracy is not practiced in Nigeria, seeing the mess the political class are doing with power given to them.
The way to eliminate old leaders is to not vote to them again, but if votes are getting rigged then it will be difficult task to do.
