Hello everyone, Welcome to another edition of the Hive learners Prompt, it's the second edition for this week and seriously its a topic that many of us might have asked ourselves, or had discussions about one time.
So the idea of using robots and AI to fight wars really sounds like something out of a sci- fi movie or novel, not gonna lie, yeah.... but then now thinking about it seriously, it is not that far fetched, because see if countries could rely on robots instead of human soldiers, yes, the first very obvious benefit would be saving lives, our soldiers would not have to risk their bodies and lives on the battlefield very war time.
Now you just Imagine wars being fought for us with machines and people watch from safety of their homes, see that is a really huge relief for many families who lose loved ones in conflict, the thought of that one alone sef, already makes it sound like a good thing.
But then again, when I start thinking about the long term effects too, omooo.... truthfully I get a little worried, and here's why, it is because wars are usually messy, it is not just physically but politically and emotionally, you see humans have emotions, negotiations, and limits, and that sometimes keeps things from going too far ,but these machines don’t have those limits, don't let all this AI movies deceive you , nothing like machine having feelings, okay so If we now rely on AI to fight wars ,then what happens when they just keep going because their logic says the war isn’t over? like do you get? Then who controls them? Who decides when to stop? Seriously the idea that a war could become endless because machines are doing all the fighting is really kind of scary.

Another thing is, technology can be hacked or they can misused, Imagine an AI soldier or robot falling into the wrong hands, suddenly, the very system designed to protect lives becomes a tool for destruction, ateast we watch movies and see things that happens, forget the fakeness some movie have. See here, it makes you realize that while machines can be precise and powerful, they are not infallible , yeah, there will always be someone still trying to find loopholes or ways to use the technology for their own selfish purposes, so even if the first goal is noble to save lives, the execution could backfire in so many ways we wouldn't even expect.
See here, on the other hand, I do think that there is a potential middle ground, Robots and AI could be used for defense or peacekeeping rather than aggressive attacks, Like, they could monitor borders, disarm explosives, and rescue civilians in conflict zones, they can do things that are too dangerous for humans, and if we carefully program them with strict rules about when to engage and when to stop, maybe the risk of endless conflict could be managed, I am not saying it is perfect, but it seems like a better idea than just handing them full control of the battlefield.
And then see, at the end of the day, it really just comes down to control and also ethics, using robots and AI in war could actually save lives, that is true, but then the question is whether humans are really ready to manage the consequences, i mean war is already chaotic and unpredictable already , now adding machines into the mix could either make it safer or completely just uncontrollable, so yes we do need clear rules, constant monitoring, and maybe some limitations on AI in warfare, otherwise, what seems like a smart solution today could be tomorrow’s nightmare.
So yeah, for me I think robots fighting wars could be good if it is handled in a proper manner, but it is also really dangerous, because you see life and conflict are not just numbers and logic, they are really messy, emotional, and human, and AI cannot understand that one fully, and If we ignore that, we might just end up in a situation where saving lives now creates a war that never ends later in time.

The idea of using AI or robot to fight war can be so messy because anything can go wrong and when a bot is out of control, it can do and undo
Yes o, the do and undo is the problem.
Most especially cause it could be hacked.... it's scary to even think about.
Like really scary o.
That's why I believe, there should somehow be a balance, the way at which these machines would be given access and when humans should come in.
Yes, having robots on the battlefield will save many soldiers' lives during war, but it would be better if our goal is to avoid war as much as possible because war will have very bad impacts.
We both know there no way to avoid war, but the things is , it has to do with the leadership in the country, I guess.
Yes if the robots are properly managed, it's a fine way of fighting war.
