[EN/PT-BR] Could it work if cryptocurrencies were the only financial means available?

Ever since cryptocurrencies came into our lives, we have been looking for a way to make them give us some income, whether passive or in a “trade” that makes us rich very quickly. To this day, I still avoid making the exchanges that make this happen, I don't feel the necessary security for these actions, but I confess that I am somewhat envious of those who have a critical eye for this. Ultimately, all of us here at Hive or in any other project that has cryptocurrencies as its foundation, seek to ensure that they gain a respected space in people's lives.

So, with that in mind, would a world where the economy is entirely based on cryptocurrencies work? It's a very complex question, I don't think I can answer it with complete certainty, but I believe that it is possible for this to happen, but of course, adoption would have to be almost 100% and people would have to have some form of access to the networks in their daily lives, perhaps with a smartphone, a smartwatch or something like that. In my opinion, the first thing would be to define a single blockchain network that would connect everyone in that place.

Let's start by thinking on a smaller scale, for example, a neighborhood in a city. In order for this neighborhood to completely abolish the use of local currency (FIAT) and the non-use of banks or banking apps, the first step would be to create a blockchain, where each user would have their own unique “user ID” and with that everyone could pay and receive crypto in their establishments. So, for me to be able to leave my house and go to the supermarket to do my shopping, the supermarket needs to accept my cryptocurrencies in some way, so a blockchain network could be the connection we need for that.

In our micro scenario, the entire neighborhood should be connected in some way to a network that is common to the people who live there and thus, with their physical cards that have access to the network (Like these Hive debit cards, which are starting to appear) or some other electronic device that has access, that entire place could, yes, live only on cryptocurrencies. The problem becomes even worse when adoption doesn't happen. So, what's the point of putting an entire neighborhood on blockchain if the other neighborhoods in the city aren't? And what about the world? Then they would be isolated.

Creation and adoption would only be the first step. Imagine doing this on a global scale? So, it would be something that would need to be very well thought out and done calmly. A large network that would be available to everyone. Of course, this is a dream. We have to think about how much it would cost, how it would be to give everyone the possibility of somehow accessing cryptocurrency payments and receipts. Another complicated point is that governments of countries would certainly not accept this. Imagine losing power over their citizens' money? The same goes for banks, which would make this as difficult as possible.

Finally, I believe that connecting the entire world to a network that uses cryptocurrencies would be incredible, but it would be very difficult to implement. Here I mentioned some points, but we would have many others, such as, for example, electricity, energy to keep everything online all the time, without energy and without money, FIAT, how would we do it? In this way, I can say that we fight for the expansion of cryptocurrencies, but making them the standard of use in financial acts, I think it would be very complex, but who knows one day that will happen, right?

Desde que as criptomoedas chegaram em nossas vidas, buscamos uma forma de fazer com que elas nos deem algum rendimento, seja passivo ou em um “trade” que nos faça ricos muito rapidamente. Até hoje eu ainda evito realizar as trocas que fazem isso acontecer, não sinto a segurança necessária para essas ações, mas confesso que dá uma certa inveja de quem tem o olhar crítico para isso. Enfim, todos nós que estamos aqui na Hive ou em algum outro projeto que tenha criptomoedas em seu alicerce, buscamos que elas ganhem um espaço de respeito na vida das pessoas.

Então, com isso, será que um mundo, onde a economia seja totalmente baseada em criptomoedas, daria certo? Uma pergunta bem complexa, acredito que não tenho como responder isso com total certeza, mas tenho a opinião de que é sim possível isso acontecer, mas claro que a adesão teria que ser quase que 100% e as pessoas teriam que ter alguma forma de acesso às redes em seu dia a dia, talvez com um smartphone, um smartwatch ou coisas do tipo. A meu ver, a primeira coisa seria definir uma rede blockchain única, que ligaria a todos que estão ali naquele lugar.

Vamos começar pensando em uma escala menor, por exemplo, um bairro de uma cidade. Para que esse bairro pudesse abolir de vez o uso de moeda local (FIAT) e o não uso de bancos ou aplicativos de bancos, o primeiro passo seria criar uma blockchain, onde cada usuário teria o seu “user ID” único e com isso todos pudessem pagar e receber cripto em seus estabelecimentos. Então, para que eu possa sair de casa e ir ao mercado fazer minhas compras, é preciso que o mercado aceite as minhas criptomoedas de alguma forma, então uma rede blockchain pode ser a conexão de que precisamos para isso.

No nosso cenário micro, o bairro inteiro deveria estar ligado de alguma forma em alguma rede que fosse comum para as pessoas que ali vivem e assim, com seus cartões físicos que têm acesso à rede (Tipo esses cartões de débito da Hive, que estão começando a aparecer) ou então algum outro aparelho eletrônico que tenha o acesso, todo aquele local poderia, sim, viver somente de criptomoedas. O problema se torna maior quando a adoção não acontece, então, do que adianta colocar um bairro inteiro em blockchain se os outros bairros da cidade não são? E o mundo? Então eles ficariam isolados.

A criação e adoção seriam somente o primeiro passo, imagine realizar isso ao nível mundial? Então, seria algo que precisaria ser muito bem pensado e feito com calma. Uma grande rede que estaria disposta a todas as pessoas. Claro que isso é um sonho, temos que pensar em quanto isso custaria, em como seria dar a possibilidade para todas as pessoas acessarem de alguma forma o pagamento e recebimento de criptomoeda. Outro ponto complicado é que com certeza os governos dos países não iriam aceitar isso, imagina perder o poder sobre o dinheiro do seu cidadão? O mesmo vale para os bancos, que iriam dificultar ao máximo isso.

Por fim, acredito que deixar o mundo inteiro conectado em uma rede que utilize criptomoedas seria algo incrível, mas que seria muito difícil de ser implementado. Aqui citei alguns pontos, mas teríamos muitos outros, como, por exemplo, eletricidade, energia para deixar tudo online o tempo todo, sem energia e sem dinheiro, FIAT, como iríamos fazer? Dessa forma, posso dizer que lutamos para a ampliação das criptomoedas, mas torná-las o padrão de uso no ato financeiro acho que seria muito complexo, mas quem sabe um dia isso acontece não é mesmo?
