DEEPFAKE TECHNOLOGY: 99 % HARM 1% GOOD…

The fact that there’s a deepfake technology in the world right now is a sign that there’s indeed growth, progress and advancement in the technology space. Honestly, i was this close to giving up on this topic this morning, and that’s because the word “deepfake” is a word that is not commonly used, which means i have only heard it a couple of times here and there, and that too without any in-depth knowledge about it. I had to check the meaning of the term “deepfake technology” to know if i’d be able to say one or twenty things about it…

Moving on, with the direction the world is headed now, i won’t be surprised if humans don’t have to do anything to survive any more in the next couple of decades, and just with the aid of some advance technological equipments and gadgets survival will be more adequate and less hectic. A world where humans have the ultimate power to make and ruin lives through the aid of technology. There was nothing like AI about a decade ago, and thanks to the absence of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE back then, the rate at which people get scammed and defrauded on the virtual world is less. Back then, fraudulent activities were mostly done in the real world, only a few people had the ability to get it done online, unlike now where scammers and hackers now have different methods of ruining people’s life, and that too with the aid of this same technology. This is to tell you all that, in as much as we all claim to know about the pros of technology, there are also many cons attached to it, and that is where we have this so called innovation of “deepfake technology”…

Personally, I know for a fact that there’s always a bad side to every good thing, especially if it’s done, used or handled wrongly or it falls in the hands of the wrong person or people. Technologically speaking, deepfake technologies definitely have some advantages, especially in the entertainment industry. I also know without any iota of doubt that this same particular deepfake technology in question also have “numerous” disadvantages, all of which include voice Phishing and Links. Personally, the disadvantages of deepfake technologies outweighs its advantages. This tech was developed to serve humanity for the right reasons, especially when it’s being handled and controlled by the right forces…

Thanks to the nonstop advancement in the technology world, we now have different artificial intelligence powered devices out there, owned and controlled by both the wrong and right people…

I think it’s high time we addressed this issue before it becomes a bigger problem than it already is now. Deepfake technologies are bad, they are more of a threat than a tool, they can be very dangerous in the wrong hands, especially in the hands of a literate. Deepfake technologies are mostly handled by those with deep educational knowledge, it can’t just be handled by anyone. Deepfake technologies has ruined and will continue to ruin many lives if it is not curbed…

Honestly, the only experience i’ve had with deepfake technologies in the human world are bad experiences, scammers using different means to scam their fellow citizens. Imagine using a deepfake technology to sound like a person’s close relative to scam them. How bad can it get than this. Majority of the common people out there are still falling victims to the bad things done with this technology. It has caused us more harm than any good. What is the use of a technology that has caused more harm than good? It should be crushed…

Deepfake technology for a good act?

Honestly, I completely believe it can be used for a good act. After all, this techs were developed to make living easier and enjoyable for us, but then the fact that such technologies is now being handled, controlled and accessed by the wrong people is where everything went all wrong. I think it can be used in the entertainment industry for one reason or the other. I don’t know much about it but then i know it also had a good side, unlike now…

In summary, I still think the world would be a more better place without it. This deepfake technology has caused more harm than good, therefore it should be taken down…

In conclusion, what is bad is bad, there’s no other explanation to it. Let’s be wise, conscious and practical in the best way, that way we won’t be victims…
