Over time, social networks have proved to be an excellent marketing tool for many companies. With it, you can expand your brand so that more people know about it, and this is becoming increasingly popular, to the point where even political entities are using the networks for their own benefit and becoming better known. It's no different: politicians will increasingly use social media to reach more voters. We know the power they have to put someone on people's radar and thereby increase their popularity.

I'm not particularly attached to politics. I've long since given up hope that it can really bring good change to the country. I believe that the social media algorithm has already noticed my lack of interest in this kind of subject, because almost nothing related to politics appears in my feed and, frankly, I think that's great. But it turns out that, just as the algorithm understands my lack of interest and doesn't show it to me as often, I believe that for other people, who are interested or indifferent, this type of content appears normally.

Here in Brazil, political bubbles are getting stronger and stronger. And although I stay away from this kind of subject, at one time or another I end up seeing people debating and fighting to defend their own political side. Of course, these discussions happen anywhere, but social networks are undoubtedly the favorite place for the politically alienated. It's funny how these things work: side A versus side B biting each other, stressing each other out, offending each other... and nothing changes. It's a good strategy to create division, because then attention is diverted from where it really should be. But anyway, although I find it funny, it's sad at the same time, they've somewhat distorted the reality for these more extreme people.

Politicians foster this rivalry, and I don't see anything good in it. People fight, lose friendships or simply stop talking to each other because of this kind of attitude. But one thing seems positive: even though many people are more alienated from defending one side, people are also more aware of what's going on. And social networks are a strong channel for this to spread. There are still “decent” people who are more sensible when it comes to political parties and, thanks to this, we have more access to information about what's happening in the Central Plateau, about a new law or even about important events. I think that, over the last few years, people have become a little more interested in politics and you can't deny that social networks have helped to popularize this interest too.

But in any case, we know that politicians will use this tool to the maximum to gain more popularity and win more votes when necessary. It's nothing very different from what we've seen before, the difference is that now they have an even bigger stage, with more reach and more influence. And as long as we're clicking, sharing and commenting, this cycle will keep going... for better or worse.

As redes sociais se mostraram, ao longo do tempo, uma excelente ferramenta de marketing para muitas empresas. Com isso, é possível expandir sua marca para que mais pessoas a conheçam, e isso está se popularizando cada vez mais, a ponto de até entidades políticas utilizarem as redes para seu próprio benefício e se tornarem mais conhecidas. Não seria diferente: políticos vão usar cada vez mais as redes sociais para alcançar mais eleitores. Sabemos o poder que elas têm para colocar alguém no radar das pessoas e, com isso, aumentar sua popularidade.

Eu, particularmente, não sou uma pessoa muito apegada à política. Faz tempo que perdi as esperanças de que isso possa realmente trazer boas mudanças para o país. Acredito que o algoritmo das redes sociais já percebeu minha falta de interesse nesse tipo de assunto, porque quase não aparece nada relacionado à política no meu feed e, sinceramente, acho isso ótimo. Mas acontece que, da mesma forma que o algoritmo entende minha falta de interesse e não me mostra com tanta frequência, acredito que para outras pessoas, que têm interesse ou são indiferentes, esse tipo de conteúdo aparece normalmente.

Aqui no Brasil, as bolhas políticas estão cada vez mais fortes. E, apesar de eu passar longe desse tipo de assunto, uma hora ou outra acabo vendo pessoas debatendo e brigando para defender o próprio lado político. Claro que essas discussões acontecem em qualquer lugar, mas as redes sociais são, sem dúvida, o lugar preferido dos alienados políticos. Chega a ser engraçado como essas coisas funcionam: lado A contra lado B se mordendo, se estressando, se ofendendo... e nada muda. É uma boa estratégia essa de criar divisão, porque assim as atenções são desviadas de onde realmente deveriam estar. Mas, enfim, apesar de eu achar isso engraçado, ao mesmo tempo é triste, implementaram de certa forma uma distorção da realidades a essas pessoas mais extremistas.

Os políticos fomentam essa rivalidade, e eu não vejo nada de bom nisso. Pessoas brigam, perdem amizades ou simplesmente param de se falar por causa desse tipo de atitude. Mas uma coisa nisso tudo até parece positiva: mesmo que muitos estejam mais alienados em defender um lado, as pessoas estão também mais atentas ao que está acontecendo. E as redes sociais são um canal forte pra isso se espalhar. Ainda existem as pessoas "decentes", que são mais sensatas quando se trata de partido político, e, graças a isso, temos mais acesso a informações sobre o que acontece no Planalto Central, sobre alguma nova lei ou mesmo sobre acontecimentos importantes. Acho que, de uns anos pra cá, as pessoas começaram a se interessar um pouco mais por política e não dá pra negar que as redes sociais ajudaram a popularizar esse interesse também.

Mas de qualquer forma, sabemos que os políticos vão utilizar essa ferramenta ao máximo pra obter mais popularidade e ganhar mais votos quando necessário. Não é nada muito diferente do que já vimos antes a diferença é que agora eles têm um palco ainda maior, com mais alcance e mais influência. E enquanto a gente estiver clicando, compartilhando e comentando, esse ciclo vai continuar rodando… seja pro bem ou pro mal.
