Free days, a thousand plans! [EN/PT]

If there's one thing that makes any Brazilian happy, it's looking at the calendar and seeing that there's a holiday in the middle of the week. We work too much and having an extra day to rest or do something else is only fair! But to be honest, who here doesn't love a holiday?

I can't complain: this April has been great when it comes to holidays. Last weekend, we had an extended holiday here in Brazil. On Friday, we celebrated the Friday of the Passion, a holiday with great symbolism in Christianity and which involves some cultural traditions. On Saturday and Sunday, we had another national holiday on Monday: Tiradentes Day, a very important figure in Brazilian history. Well, for history buffs or not, Christians or not, these days were truly peaceful. There's nothing better than having four days of rest in a row!

I can say that I really enjoyed this last holiday. I did a lot of cool activities and had a lot of different days, I really didn't stop for a second! On Friday, there was a barbecue at my girlfriend's uncle's house. On Saturday, I went hiking (I woke up at 2:30 in the morning!) and I also took part in another barbecue at some friends' house. On Sunday, I played beach volleyball and in the evening we went karaoke. And on Monday, I went to my mother's house and did various things there too. But why am I saying this? Because I really need to use the next holiday to rest. But will I be able to? I don't think so... I'll explain in a moment!

Well, May 1st is not only Labor Day, but it's also my girlfriend's birthday. And of course I can't let that go unnoticed, so we'll probably do something special for her. We've already agreed that this year's birthday party will be different, we're going to swap it for a concert in August, in São Paulo, by her favorite band: Good Charlotte. But even if the “official” celebration is in a few months' time, we'll still try to do something nice here. And of course: there will definitely be karaoke!

After the holiday next Thursday, I'll be working on Friday, and the weekend will be free to recharge my batteries. Honestly, I really want to take a day just to rest, even if it's the whole of Saturday. Eating junk food and watching movies all day is in my plans. Will I manage it? I don't know, but I really need it. On Sunday, I should probably do something. And as has become a habit over the last few weeks, I'm going to play soccer with my cousins in the morning.

Well, those are just a few ideas I have. I think I can do them! But I don't know about you, I always get very anxious about holidays and weekends, and that ends up slowing down the rest of the week, which frustrates me a bit. And I think that's what it is: the anxiety when it arrives, the frustration at how long it takes... but, in the end, the holiday passes so quickly that it feels like the day only has 12 hours, not 24! But that's it. The plans are set. Let's see how it goes, then I'll tell you!

Se tem uma coisa que deixa qualquer brasileiro feliz é olhar para o calendário e ver que tem um feriado no meio da semana. Trabalhamos demais, e ter um dia extra para descansar ou fazer qualquer outra coisa é mais do que justo! Mas seja sincero, quem aqui não ama um feriado?

Não posso reclamar: este mês de abril está sendo ótimo no quesito feriados. No fim de semana passado, tivemos um feriado prolongado aqui no Brasil. Na sexta-feira, foi celebrada a Sexta-feira da Paixão, um feriado com grande simbolismo no cristianismo e que envolve algumas tradições culturais. No sábado e domingo, já emendamos com mais um feriado nacional na segunda-feira: o Dia de Tiradentes, uma figura muito importante na história brasileira. Bem, para os aficionados por história ou não, cristãos ou não, esses dias foram de verdadeira paz. Nada melhor do que ter quatro dias seguidos de descanso!

Posso dizer que aproveitei bem esse último feriado. Fiz muitas atividades legais e vivi dias bem diferentes, eu realmente não parei um segundo! Na sexta-feira, teve churrasco na casa do tio da minha namorada. No sábado, fiz uma trilha (acordei às 2h30 da manhã!) e ainda participei de outro churrasco, na casa de alguns amigos. No domingo, joguei vôlei de praia e à noite fomos ao karaokê. E na segunda, fui até a casa da minha mãe e também fiz várias coisas por lá. Mas por que estou dizendo isso? Porque eu realmente preciso usar o próximo feriado para descansar. Mas será que vou conseguir? Acho que não… já já eu explico!

Bem, o dia 1º de maio não é apenas o Dia do Trabalhador, mas também é o aniversário da minha namorada. E claro que eu não posso deixar isso passar em branco, então provavelmente vamos fazer algo especial para ela. Já combinamos que a festa de aniversário este ano será diferente, vamos trocá-la por um show em agosto, em São Paulo, da banda favorita dela: Good Charlotte. Mas mesmo que a comemoração “oficial” fique para daqui a alguns meses, ainda assim vamos tentar fazer algo legal por aqui. E claro: com certeza vai ter karaokê!

Depois do feriado na próxima quinta-feira, vou trabalhar na sexta, e o fim de semana vai estar liberado para recarregar as energias. Sinceramente, pretendo de verdade tirar um dia só para descansar, nem que seja o sábado inteiro. Comer umas besteiras e ver filmes o dia todo está nos meus planos. Será que vou conseguir? Não sei, mas eu realmente preciso disso. No domingo, provavelmente devo fazer alguma atividade. E como já vem se tornando um hábito nas últimas semanas, vou jogar futebol com meus primos pela manhã.

Bem, essas são apenas algumas ideias que eu tenho. Acredito que dê para cumpri-las! Mas não sei vocês, eu sempre fico muito ansioso pelos feriados e fins de semana, e isso acaba deixando o resto da semana mais lento, o que me frustra um pouco. E acho que é isso: a ansiedade para chegar, a frustração por demorar... mas, no fim, o feriado passa tão rápido que parece que o dia tem só 12 horas, e não 24! Mas é isso. Os planos estão traçados. Vamos ver como vai ser, depois eu conto aqui!
