Today, I would like to share two recent events here in my country that are directly linked to the decisions of men in suits, which impact people's lives, of course.

First, I wanted to share a piece of news that, to put it mildly, would leave anyone a little confused, because the government had a brilliant idea. “The congestion tax.” That's right, you heard me. People here would be taxed for being stuck in traffic, in that hellish congestion that no one can stand. Just imagine the situation. A law was created that allows municipalities to charge for vehicle traffic in areas or at times of heavy traffic. In other words, you pay for the time you spend stuck in traffic. It's very interesting to tax people for something that happens due to pure local incompetence in not having, creating, or maintaining an adequate traffic structure.

But well, that was just a ridiculous idea, which was approved and then discarded, perhaps due to the negative repercussions. What usually happens is that unthinkable laws like these are passed on a recurring basis, but they don't gain visibility and, luckily for us, this one was no longer enforced. Tell me if this doesn't seem like a bad joke. Here in Brazil, over the last decade, there has been no lack of creativity on the part of the government in constantly trying to create a new tax or fee. The incompetence in managing the country is so great that it is the population who ends up paying for it, and despite so much tax revenue, there is still a shortage of money in the public coffers.

But despite all the incompetence of the State, we also had some good news recently, and I'll be honest, for the first time I saw something really useful and efficient being done amid so many failures. Significant changes were implemented in the minimum wage and income tax exemption, where ordinary workers are now exempt from tax on income up to five thousand reais (around a thousand dollars). This is significant because the poorest population, ordinary workers, suffer the most from taxes and charges. Having some relief in wages is something that can actually have positive consequences for our economy.

Of course, there is still a truckload of taxes being collected at every opportunity the government sees, but at least there is immediate relief in the worker's pocket. With a little more money left over, they may have a small increase in purchasing power, and in a way, this helps the economy, even if it is not as impactful as it should be. Still, it is progress and should be seen as a path to follow, because if the government understands that less taxes means more purchasing power for the population, the economy improves. There is no point in chaining people down with so many taxes; it only kills our economy, and there will come a time when there will be nothing left to do, nowhere else to add taxes. The path, whether good or bad, is very clear.

So, if we analyze it carefully, taxes are something that directly impact people's lives. Not everything is about money, nor should it be, but from the moment the government takes or gives, we realize how much we are in the hands of those who should care for us, fight for a more dignified life for the population, look at people and see their fellow human beings, seeking a fairer place with a better quality of life. It's a shame that we see much more bad news than good, because I haven't seen positive news like this in a long time. Anyway, may God protect us, may good news be more frequent in our lives, and may we, through our own strength, be able to move forward despite the incompetence of our leaders.

Foi criada uma lei que permite que municípios cobrem pela circulação de veículos em áreas ou horários de grande fluxo. Ou seja, você paga pelo tempo que passa parado no trânsito. Muito interessante taxar as pessoas por algo que acontece pela pura incompetência local em não ter, criar ou manter uma estrutura de trânsito adequada.

Mas bem, essa foi apenas uma ideia ridícula, que chegou a ser aprovada e depois foi descartada, talvez pela má repercussão. O que geralmente acontece é que leis impensáveis como essas passam de forma recorrente, apenas não ganham visibilidade e, para nossa sorte, essa deixou de ser aplicada. Fala para mim se isso não parece uma piada de mau gosto. Aqui no Brasil, nesta última década, criatividade não falta para o governo tentar a todo instante criar uma nova taxa, um novo imposto ou tarifa. A incompetência em gerir o país é tão grande que quem acaba pagando por isso é a população e, apesar de tanta arrecadação tributária, ainda falta dinheiro nos cofres públicos.

Mas apesar de toda a incompetência do Estado, também tivemos recentemente uma boa notícia e vou ser sincero, pela primeira vez eu vi algo realmente útil e eficiente sendo feito em meio a tantas falhas. Foram implementadas mudanças significativas no salário mínimo e na isenção do Imposto de Renda, onde trabalhadores comuns passam a ficar isentos do imposto sobre rendas de até cinco mil reais, (algo em torno de mil dólares). Isso é significativo, pois a população mais pobre, o trabalhador comum, é quem mais sofre com impostos e cobranças. Ter um alívio no salário é algo que pode de fato gerar consequências positivas na nossa economia.

Claro, ainda existe um caminhão de impostos sendo coletados em toda oportunidade que o governo enxerga, mas ao menos existe um alívio imediato no bolso do trabalhador. Com um pouco mais de dinheiro sobrando, ele poderá ter um pequeno aumento no poder de compra e, de certa forma, isso ajuda a economia, mesmo que não seja tão impactante quanto deveria ser. Ainda assim, já é um progresso e deveria ser visto como um caminho a ser seguido, pois se o governo entende que menos impostos é mais poder de compra para a população, a economia melhora. Não adianta acorrentar as pessoas em tantos impostos, isso apenas mata nossa economia e vai chegar um momento em que não terá mais o que fazer, não terá de onde mais adicionar impostos. O caminho, sendo bom ou ruim é muito claro.

Então, se analisarmos bem, impostos é algo que impacta diretamente a vida das pessoas. Nem tudo é sobre dinheiro e nem deveria ser, mas a partir do momento em que o governo tira ou dá, percebemos o quanto estamos nas mãos daqueles que deveriam prezar por nós, lutar por uma vida mais digna para a população, olhar para as pessoas e enxergar semelhantes, buscando um lugar mais justo e com mais qualidade de vida. Uma pena que vemos muito mais notícias ruins do que boas, pois uma notícia positiva como essa eu não via há tempos. Enfim, que Deus nos proteja, que notícias boas sejam mais frequentes em nossas vidas e que, por força própria, consigamos seguir apesar da incompetência dos nossos governantes.
