This is a two way but the latter being higher and I mean, we are just more informed than we were in the past. Considering the simple fact that the people of the past did travel far to get information, go miles to get letters from another, it shows just how much better and easy life has become with information being accessed faster.
Information is one scary thing that could make or mar if not handled carefully, a reason we should be worried that it is gotten too easily now. I'll just be at home using my mobile phone and I've gotten detailed info on what had happened countries away, it's fascinating and at the same time scary depending on the kind of information.
Whether in the past or in today's time and age, I think smartness is not something that only knowledge guarantees. Just as we might have had smart people of old who didn't get knowledge easily, we also have people of today who are not smart but get information easily and vice versa on both those of the past and now.
One thing I've learnt over time about free or easy things, they tend to lose the value they are supposed to hold but I can't seem to agree with that when it comes to knowledge gained or information gotten easily or free. Not everything we know today we would use tomorrow or ever, we could just know them for the sake of knowing.
And I believe it was same for the people of old, they gained knowledge even though not easily, but didn't make use of all, they just knew what they let themselves know. If we are to judge the smartness level of both era using the knowledge gained, whether the necessary or the unnecessary, the people of this era are smarter.
But we can't rule out the fact that information was not much valued back then than it is now. Even now, people are hoping not to know some things they don't need to know but somehow, it gets to their "view or to read" feed and they can't unsee or unknow it. Information gained easily or free can be a two way thing for the receivers.
The information is either useless and so loses it's value or it is very useful and contributes to the smartness level of this era. Because of this point, I don't think we should bother comparing this era to the past era in a negative light, to find information this easily is very much what the people of the past wanted and now is that era.
Easy access to information has not only improved our world system, ecology but also improved how fast humans learn to bring in even greater innovations for the betterment of our world. There's almost nothing without a dark side or disadvantages so yeah, it's pretty clear that a lot of knowledge gained in the era are valueless but on the brighter side, it is worth it in this era.

Yes and if we kept same pace pf our learning we have ability to do wonders . We cannot only reach space but inhabitate us well. Only need is not to stop learning. Not yo falling in confort
You're right there.
Coming to a judgement on this topic is not so easy as many things need to be considered. I am still thinking on the topic and I hope within fa short time I will get the answer. I feel we are quite smart.
I thought same too, there's no need comparing both era negatively really.
Yup!
The truth is that nothing good comes easy, but just like you said we can't say that when it get to knowledge..
True!
Easy access to information truly has made us more informed, but not smarter. Itβs true that while knowledge is more accessible now, not all of it is of value nor applied.
Easy access really has a lot of benefits which we have refused to make good use of.
Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, we have refused to make good use of what we have and that's the problem.
Exactly, this is more of a wakeup call.
Thanks....
Well u are right that easy knowledge has given us lot of advantage it has benefit us in a many way which might we even don't know.
Yeah, the advantages are more than the bad side.
