There was a movie I saw that actually opened my eyes to how reacting very fast could save someone's life and also take someone's life. Out of fear or confusion, someone could lose or gain back their life. But being always ready to respond to an emergency is a skill that shouldn't be taken lightly. And I've learned that on many situations.
Last year December, I participated in a safety training that didn't just teach me how to stay safe but also guided me on what to do should I encounter an emergency situation especially the one that deals with our health, whether to me or to a neighbour. It sure takes a lot of mind readiness and fast hands to handle emergencies.
I've never been in a situation to give a CPR to an unconscious person but from practicals during the training, I believe I have the basic knowledge on what to do should I be the only one available to do it on a person. What I doubt that I have is the mind to stay strong to do it on the person.
I guess one of the reasons I run from medical courses is that I don't have the strong mind to handle serious situations where someone's life depends on my skill and fast act to save him or her. But I could act fast using home remedies and first aid to help get someone out of danger.
I've only had few experiences with reacting fast to someone who is in an emergency close to me but what I know, I learned from my mum who is a nurse and always ready to take actions to get a patient out of danger. Even though she's a nurse, she has also learned some herbal and home remedies to help people in a health emergency.
I remember my most recent experience caring for my younger sister when she was sick. I bet it was a case of taking her to the hospital as many suggested because of how weak she appeared to look. But thankfully, I had good guides to keep her out of dangerous stages till she got better.
A mere cold bath or pouring cold water over an unconscious person can help, making use of first aid medications to clean and dress a wound could save someone from more pain or serious infections. I can do all these without much thinking if ever I am faced with such a situation. I only keep working on my speed to react faster.
One thing I have learned from my whole life experience and from the training I went to, there are no perfect way to go about saving a person's life but being willing and ready to do it anyways is what matters. And not anyone can handle such emergency situations so it's always best to let it be if you can't handle it especially if it's a case where the situation might grow bad or worse.

That pouring of water over an unconscious person has long been removed from the first aid manual, not sure if it was there before. One thing people don't know is that pouring of water over an unconsicious person can put the person live in danger because when someone fall or is unconsicious, you need to check if the person is still breathing, if they are, pouring of water in them can get the water into their nose or mouth blocking the airway and this can lead to chocking while unconsicious then worsen the situation.
Best to do is check if they are breathing and their eyes to know the cause of their unconsiciousness, if determine its fainting, then check if its a flush or pale fainting, then do the neccessary and put them in a recovery position, in no time they will be up, but if you check and they are not breathing, the next time is to do the CPR. After you have called for backup.
Also, sometimes fear can grip us, making us to act out but having a calm mind can also help make the situation better. I believe it's something you can do. I trust a superstar.
This was an interesting read. I enjoyed it.
Indeed, we learn everyday. I've just learned something new from this. Thanks for your time, Fash.
You are welcome dear
CPR technique can be needed in several situation and I think it's not so difficult to learn. I forget many things about first aid but I can remember about the CPR technique well. And once the technique became useful to save my cousin's life.
! PIZZA
Wow! Thank goodness your cousin's life was saved using the technique.
felt good to read your experience and the training you took but the truth is, it is not that easy as it looks when the time comes and honestly, just imagining that situation makes me sick myself. However, we all should have some basic knowledge of first aid
Haha I can relate with you in feeling that way, Rose. It's really a different case when it happens.
Sometimes just being tensed can cause you to hard the individual more instead of keeping space.
I’m happy you have these skills and get to help your loved ones with them.
Yeah, it's a very tensed situation.
I'm glad I learned when I could.
That’s good.
Yes, you are right. Being willing and available to help an individual from danger is what matters, and that can be fulfilling. There are instances where we would need to react fast to help save a life, and the knowledge of how to do that is something we should learn, not for others alone, but ourselves.
True, there are emergency situations we find ourselves in and have to act fast to.
It's not everyone that have the heart for anything medical and as you said, doing it can save or take one's life.
That's why it has to be considered well with less tensed mind and not many can have such.
Yea.
Actually medical line is not that as we think though you have to have a strong mind but not too emotional.
Yes o, I've come understand that.
