Do you believe angels are not just a myth and do really exist amongst us? They probably are not in white robes and suits like movies make us believe, they could be as ordinary as we are yet change our lives more than we could ever have imagined a being with white robe would do. Do you believe in miracles, maybe they are not all abracadabra as we would wish for them to be, probably an extraordinary output of the right input is just all the miracles we could ever know. I do believe that angels exist because I’ve been touched by one, and I also believe in miracles, because I have experienced a lot of them, but in all these experiences I have come to learn that just as angels exist demons also exist and they all move, live and breathe among us.
I became so bad in Business Studies during my Junior secondary school period, and became even worse in accounting because a demon in human form came into my life. She happened to be my teacher and she traumatized every single one of us. There were some who overcame the trauma at long last, but there were those of us who could not overcome it at least till after secondary school. My accounts were just never balanced no matter how I tried by myself, I was always making mistakes not because she wasn’t a good teacher, but because we were all scared of her. She made a lot of parents take their kids from the school but she was friends with my parents, my mum especially who saw are methods of teaching from afar and encouraged it.
She flogged us like we were animals, made us go through punishments that would make grown men cry, a lot of times we bleed in the process of her flogging us, and she would threaten to do worse if we ever dared to report. When I met my secondary school classmates to celebrate 10 years of leaving school, one of the things I got to know was that she molested most of the male students. Thankfully I wasn’t part of them, But when they talked about the disgusting things she made them do, I could only wonder how it was for them. This just shows how much impact a teacher can have in a child's life especially because the child spends the majority of the day with them.
The teacher that was an angel to me did not last 1 term in my school because he got a good paying job and immediately resigned. Yet after he left my whole class was transformed mentally. I can’t even remember his name, But I remember his face so vividly and his methods of teaching. While other teachers complained of our inability to learn he made us so intelligent that we performed well in other subjects. He taught us more about life than geography, but we not only knew geography at the end of the day, we knew other subjects including mathematics. To be a teacher is to have that transforming power to find a way to make those you teach learn, understand and teach others like my geography teacher did to us. I remember writing my external exams without reading geography, that was hut how much I knew the subject in one term, I wonder how it would have been if he stayed for another term.
