STRONGER THAN BELIEF

It’s normal to stop trying to know someone when we discover that our beliefs are totally different, this is why inter religious marriages are not very common in this part of the world, there are those who even believe it to be a taboo or a sin, however it takes i good leven of understanding to know and acknowledge that it’s okay to have different beliefs the idea is to be able to coexist. I have discovered that the major reasons for national and even religious conflict is lack of understanding that although we do not all have the same belief, especially due to our different upbringing, we are not all far from the truth. Using religion for example, there was a time I was so religious that I thought that every other religion was a sin to God. When I began to gain enlightenment, I then understood that I am a christian first because I was born into a christian home and thus was trained in a christian way and made to belief from a very young age that it is the right way and so is it with the muslims and other religions.

I later got to understand even deeper that God is not the God of the christian, neither is he the God of the muslims, He is the God of all, and I guess that’s why we are all against one devil lol. This belief system made me understand that it isn’t a sin to seek wisdom from the Quran, and it isn’t a sin to learn from them, it doesn't stop me from having muslim friends or celebrating with them during their festivals. It also doesn’t make me deny the fact I believe Jesus is the son of God and He is God and not a prophet. We do not have to agree on those terms and there is no reason to be afraid of me diverting from the truth that I believe in. If at the end I see something in Islam that makes me think it’s okay to convert, I’m sure it would be something I don’t already know and by the way, we all have freedom of beliefs.

This also means I am free to marry a muslim if I wish and if paraventure I get married and my wife feels there is something in Islam or any other religion that makes her want to convert, it doesn’t mean that she is a witch and there is no need to be in conflict with her as long as it makes her happy. It also means she doesn’t need to try to convince me to follow her in her beliefs which I think is the reason relationships suffer and even the world is in conflict. It takes wisdom to understand that no belief is superior as long as they are godly. And even if they are not, it’s a person’s choice. Because I do not agree does not mean we become enemies, it doesn’t also give one the right to try to convince me otherwise. Just do you, if I look at your life style and think it’s something for me, then maybe I would consider, life is simple really, we just make the simplest of things difficult.
