SOMETHING GOOD, SOMETHING BAD

A lot has been happening in my country in recent times, but to be honest I have not really been paying too much attention to national events because I have been busy trying to figure out my own life. I mean one would need to get his shit together before trying to look into everything going on in the county, that’s what the politicians in power are there for even though they are not really doing their jobs lol. Although I still hear the little gists that can’t be ignored, I try as much as possible to stay away from things that will add to the headache I already have. I don’t even watch my national team play anymore, I saw the result of how they consistently blew a lot of chances at the world cup qualification games and had to struggle to the playoffs only to be knocked out, I do not know the details and I am happy I do not know else I would have been fuming and losing my sleep LOL.

However, a few days ago the national grid fell for like the 1000th time and we have had to live in darkness. It is not as though we aren’t already used to the darkenest, but this just made people burn a lot of petrol and made barbing saloons and betting shops full for no reason as people without generators need to charge their devices also. The heat makes it worse because in my area generators are not allowed after 12:00 am. So the whole noise pollution, and human pollution (if you know what I mean) is always a thing of concern. It was fixed today though, we are not really great, but just praying it doesn’t fall again soon. That is one major issue this current government brought up. We know there is a lot to it, nobody is just saying anything about it. I mean what is there to say, I guess we are just used to it and we know there is nothing we can do. This is just one of these hopeless situations.

But then again if we talk only about the bad things going on it is easy to think that only bad things are happening in this country. I remember one of the good news we have had in a long time as a nation was on the 5th of January 2026. It was the day the total market capitalization of the Nigerian stock market closed at 100 trillion naira which is a great landmark. Since then the Naira has been slowly strengthening against the dollar and is currently 1,335 in black market.Although this is not good for a lot of freelancers as we no longer earn as much as we used to when we sell, it is great for the nation's economy. The price of fuel is still on the high side, but it is slowly gaining ground with the removal of monopoly in the oil and gas sector. So I guess even though it is not much, we are not in too much of a bad place.

The aspect of grid collapsing over and over again is actually annoying, although I'm not faced by it effect personally, but then it's affect not just individuals, but businesses and the economy at large.

On the policy that has help Naira gain strength over dollars, although this doesn't seems good to well that's earnings a living via USD, but overall we know it's a step towards the right direction that can have positive effect on the nations economy.

It's really annoying that the national grid keeps collapsing everyday I mean I've gotten used to hearing it that anytime anybody says national grid has collapse I'll just be like it happens everyday we hope for a better Nigeria in the future
