SAVE OUR SHOWS

One of the reasons I stopped watching reality shows is because I came to understand that the majority (actually all that I have watched) are faking reality. I don’t know if it is just me, but a reality show loses its importance when it can not show or teach things going on in reality. One question that normally comes to mind is what is the purpose for hosting or televising a reality show in the first place. It would be understandable if a reality show is about the life of the average chef and how they shrive to be better, people watching it would be inspired to work hard and make a name for themselves, others will learn better techniques from such show, while those who do not understand the difficulties of the average chef will come to realize and appreciate it. At this point, it is clear that there is a purpose for this kind of show and everyone watching will get to benefit.

But that is not all, this kind of show should not be shown to the general public and should be rated +18. This is because reality shows are usually uncensored and the people in them are humans with emotions that are very unpredictable. The show itself might have all the right reasons and general lessons, but the thing about reality shows is that it is impossible to act 24/7 and even though they have been briefed on what they can and can not do, there is every possibility that a slip up can happen and a child or teenager will pick the wrong lesson to learn. I had to stop watching shows like the Kardashians and Big Brother because I saw I was putting in my time and energy watching people live their lives and make money while I struggle to make ends meet. Those shows were not adding anything, they never motivated me, but instead they aroused my appetite for things that are beyond me.

Let’s face it, the idea of women doing BBL was heavily sponsored by a reality show, now a 13 year old teenager who hasn’t learned to first love and accept her body is already thinking about it. How is the show helping the community… When we understand that a lot of these shows pitch the wrong ideology to the society and the more they do so, the harder it is to correct the vices already ravaging our world. In my opinion, if there was a way to screen out useless reality shows and judge them based on moral values, then only the ones that meet the moral standards should be allowed else every useless reality show can go and burn in hell instead of continuing to allow them to ravage our society. If something is termed to be a reality show, then we should be careful about the reality and the ideology the show is spreading because it is very easy to send out a wrong message these days. At this point, let’s all be guided.
