JUSTICE FOR TERRORISTS

One of the things I have come to notice about the current government of Nigeria is how true terrorism can be easily forgiven while agitators are branded terrorists and are persecuted accordingly. Tell me why a man would be sentenced to life imprisonment for agitating for a new nation while those who kill people in broad daylight are told that they will be granted amnesty if they surrender their arms and can even contest for government in the future. This is clear that this government would rather regard true terrorists as agitators and regard agitators as terrorists because they do not want to start a war (so they claim). The more I think about this the more I wonder who the real terrorist is, the government who would want to try to settle with them or those trying to fight for a better life for their people. The moment a person stands for the good of the people the person has to be on the lookout for backlash from the government.

I thought it was just the old government that did this, but trunks out this government decided to take it further. The old government showed that the lives of its citizens do not matter to those in power during the END SARS protest, while this new government continues by trying to deceive us that they are avoiding a war and striving for peace with the terrorists. I do not fully support the invasion of the US military in NIgeria as it reflects on how much our government has failed us in the eyes of other countries internationally, but I do not condemn the swift action taken to curb terrorism as it shows for the first time since I knew myself as a Nigerian that someone in power cares that people are dying in the hands of terrorists and is actively doing something about it.

In the last 15 years terrorism has gone unchecked in the country and it is as though our government are condoling it and are even telling them to keep it up. Right now it is clear that our government is not happy with the US invasion and seeing that Israel is also coming forth they are trying to seek justice for these terrorists. It’s also funny how this same country works to stop terrorism in other African countries but can not do it on their own. Some even use the excuse that the US and Israel have their own problems and should allow us to face ours but they forget the difference is that these countries are fighting their own battles while they are aiding our own and to be honest it is a disgrace to us as a nation. A government that regards the lives of terrorists and does nothing about the lives or families of the innocent of its own is a disgrace. It shows our government instigates the terrorism we are all going through and will continue to do so as long as they see fit.
