GETTING WORK

A lot of people are looking for jobs and when we begin to think about it, what people really want is freedom. This freedom however is something that we don’t get very easily and that is because the kind of jobs we get are often not what we truly want. You get a job that gives you time, you discover that it doesn’t pay as much as you want so you need to get two or more jobs to complement it and at the end of the day you discover that you have sacrificed the freedom you always wanted for money. This is a dilemma that almost all of us face and it is the main reason we are looking for remote jobs because the cost of living sometimes wants to kill the living LOL. When you think about the pay from your workplace, transportation and feeding and subtract it, you discover that you are left with little or nothing.

We don’t just want remote jobs, what we really want are jobs that pay well and give us freedom. For the fact that you have a remote job doesn’t make us free, sometimes even these remote jobs end up being more demanding than normal 9 to 5 jobs. I know this because I have worked both, and recommend being lucky enough to find a job that gives you the time and also pays enough to sort your personnel needs. But the reality is that these kinds of jobs are rare because the number of small businesses is 100x more than the big businesses. Even with the remote jobs we are all talking about as though they are all a life saver (which most are though), No one talks about how unstable they can be. This is because a lot of the employers are not looking for something permanent, and the reason why they contract remote workers is because they don’t have the capacity to handle full time workers doing the job. But what happens when they now have that capacity.

The thing a lot of people do not say is that apart from working on spaces like Hive, Working for companies online is hardly stable. It is easy to find people who work for firms onsite for 10, 15, 20 years and really grow with the company, but very hard to find such with remote work because the fact is a lot of them are startups and a lot of these projects end up failing to finishing. This is the reason I do not think remote jobs will ever overtake offline jobs. Because at the end of the day, the employers will dictate how they want their staffing and why they want it the way they wish. You can not force an employer to get remote workers unless another pandemic occurs. What we should be worried about is AI interference and not remote interference. Before remote interference can affect an industry, AI would have already overtaken everything leaving little or nothing to take over.
