This has been my ordeal since the beginning of last week. I have been trying immensely to get a google ad I am running to convert, but the algorithm has just failed to get it right. Me being who I am has placed immense pressure on myself, and my boss has asked me about it a couple of times which has left me in a state of panic. I am someone who likes delivering results, so when I am not delivering results, I begin to panic and when I panic I begin to act in desperation. At this moment I am trying to stay calm and stay positive, but sincerely I don’t know how much calmer I can be if this ad does not convert. I have spent quite a lot and the company has put their fate in me because it was a project I volunteered to take up, but the result so far has been poor and I need that to change. I hate it when I under deliver, although I have a process that I trust and I know will work in the long run, I just feel impatient because there are expectations from me to deliver.

Google ads does not work like normal ads, in fact getting approved to run ads alone took like a week as the algorithm needed to verify the authenticity of the company services through our website, later on I ran into the first conversion issue when I later discovered that in the setting I did not exactly specify the rule for conversion. I even had to take a fresh course on google ads which I am still doing to date and it was the course that opened my eyes to that mistake. After solving that problem I am now faced with the algorithm suggesting the wrong intents to display our services. When I started google ads I was told this process might sometimes take a month, but I really never believed it because I have never experienced it until now. Now that I have experienced it, I can see how frustrating google ads can be at the beginning of a campaign and why a lot of people have not fully integrated it into their digital marketing training. Its complexity has left me cracking my brain coupled with the pressure from myself to deliver.
With meta ads or tiktok ads, it is different because those ads are simply straight forward, but with google, ads are more intent based and because of this, the algorithm needs to go beyond just behaviors and descriptions in finding the right audience for you, it needs to understand the intent of the product and service while understanding the intent of those searching for things on google. Although google ads has advanced in certain areas, it’s still a pain when it comes to training an algorithm to understand the intent of products that aren’t common in the market. For example the product and services we offer has a population of 1000 to 10,000 searches so far which is considered very low and is the major cause of the delay, however, what companies and clients want to see is progress and not excuses. I am putting pressure on myself because I do not want to give excuses.
