Now I know the value of a quiet time, these days things get so busy that before I know it, I am already sleepy and looking to just eat and rest only to resume the next day and continue. Life ain’t easy you know, especially when things are happening so fast that you can hardly create time to really breathe and enjoy a few hours with yourself and your thoughts. Those who have this luxury do not know how lucky they are. There was a time I had the luxury of time and would always reflect on a lot of things. I never knew how important it was then until recently when all I want to do is reflect but will often find myself dozing off in the process due to exhaustion. In recent times I can only do 30 minutes or at most one hour a day which is very small compared to all the things I have to ponder about in a day. I have always had to snap out of the trance because I need to prepare for work, or doze off in the middle of reflection only to end up dreaming about it and waking up tired because my mind worked overnight.

Today for example I did not want to get out of bed, but had to force myself no matter how tired I was. There were a lot of things to ponder about, and a lot of things to address, but very little to reflect on because I do not have that luxury of time, not even on weekends. These days all I am craving is a full 24 hours to myself not thinking of food or what to wear because I am fully invested in looking within myself to evaluate my actions. Although I have grown in a few areas of my life recently, I can not say my foundation is stable. I believe every growth phase in a person's life requires consolidation of their foundation. This simply means looking within themselves, back to their roots to remember why they started the growth journey in the first place, and evaluate if they are moving in the direction they hoped to reach at the beginning of their journey. After this evaluation, a person’s resolve is strengthened to attain new heights, try out new strategies to better increase progress.

I strongly believe that every sane person should be doing this as often as possible, it helps reduce mistakes, it helps to evaluate one’s progress, but most of all, it helps to make a better person. When they say a lot of people do not think, this is what they mean. I know a few who would prefer sleeping or doing other things to thinking, and oftentimes these people tend to only end up thinking about problems when they start thinking instead of solutions and when you talk with them, they are usually rotating around their problems with little or no headway to the solution they need. They do not find solutions because they have not trained their minds to look for solutions which is one of the major things reflection helps people do. It helps in sharpening the mind to evaluate and it is until a person can successfully evaluate themselves, that is when they can find their flaws and think about solutions. So no evaluation, no solution and you just end up running around cycles of problems.
