A TWO EDGED SWORD

I always say technology can become a two edged sword and when I say this, deepfake tech is no different. For a technology like deepfake that has been corrupted and used for all sorts of illegal activities, it is usually hard to see the good in it. But in real life, they are just like guns, owning one does not make a person bad, using it the wrong way is what does. The same way the thieves use it, is the same way the Legal arm forces use it. But one is meant to do justice while the other is meant to commit crime. A gun in the hand of an armed robber instills fear, a gun in the hands of a soldier instills courage and a sense of order and justice. This further proves that technology is neither good or bad, but the use of tech is what defines good and bad. Any deepfake tech in the hand of a scammer is dangerous, but can you imagine what a hospital with the same technology can do with it?

Imagine going to the hospital for plastic surgery and you do not understand the things the surgeon would be doing on your body. With deepfake tech, it would be easy for the doctor to show you a realistic video of how you would look after the surgery to give you a feel of what to expect after everything. This helps the doctor not to expend much energy convincing you, and since you can see clearly what is shown, it would be easy to understand the things going on in your body. This shows that while one uses deepfake technology to tell a lie and scam people, another uses it to explain the truth and make people understand and this is the big difference in their uses. While one is giving hope at the end of the day another is putting people in misery and as cruel as it may sound, such is life.

Another way to use deepfake technology for good is in tutorial videos. You can make AI videos of yourself and you do not have to go through the stress of creating a video from scratch. I have done this for a lot of my clients that I manage their social media because a lot of them are camera shy. I just take a 1 minute video of them and use it according to the scripts they wish to use and boom we got a good video and you can almost not tell the difference except you understand the fluency of AI lol. This has saved me a lot of work and has saved my clients a lot of stress and anxiety. So at least I can boast of using it and not using it for bad lol. I feel it is so for even the most innocent technologies. Even a cooking pot will become a weapon in the wrong hands and so it is for technology.
