A RELIGIOUS TINGY

Talk about conspiracy theories and how they have affected our lives and way of thinking. And coming from Nigeria which happens to be a den for religious beliefs and systems I've grown up believing a lot of things that have helped me to date. But then what about theories from religious teachings that have existed for centuries but when we check these things we discover that they are just beliefs of our forebears that had been believed blindly for generations and have become a system that people hold on to so religiously and some would even die for such beliefs. The truth is some of these theories were not entirely false, but the belief people had in them made their use of non-effect.

For example there is a debate by pastors about tithing and all. Truth is anyone can believe whatever they want to believe, anyone can claim it's God's will that they pay tithe or not and use the scriptures to back up their points but at the end of the day, God won't be coming down to validate anybody's point of view and we may never know God's true point of view. These debates however have shown that some of the things we were taught as children were mostly doctrines and religious beliefs and not the actual truth as they claimed it to be. There's really nothing wrong with that, but the things belief can make man do is out of this world. I mean you see some people say they gave their all to God and were blessed massively and others did so and became worse but what can we do, anyone could wake up one morning and derive a theory from These things.

One thing I always believed growing up was that our forefathers lived longer than us. Maybe I would take an exception of those in the Bible, but then when I began to take a peek into history I discovered that longevity in a generation is not determined by how long one person lived, but by the collective average lifespan of a people. In the 1800s for example the average lifespan was around 32 years because there were a lot of people dying from diseases. In the 1900s the average lifespan increased to 39, 47, and 53 years respectively and as of now the average lifespan is about 73 years. Now don't take my word for it, take a minute to think about it, why is the population increasing? It's simply because people don't die as much as people used to, making birth rates more than death rate… you can do your own research if you don't believe me.

Now this theory has made a lot of people prefer to take herbs than to take industrial medications claiming herbs are more potent and without side effects which is totally untrue. Some will even say herbs do not expire the way industrial medications do which is also untrue. It has been medically proven that the reason for organ failures in the average human is as a result of herbs that do not synchronize with their body system that have been consumed in a very large quantity. Now I'm not saying taking herbs is wrong and I'm not saying taking industrial medications is right, I'm saying the belief that one is more potent than the other especially drawing it to the reasons our forefathers lived longer (which is also false) is not as true as we might think.

When it comes to religious beliefs, people have a way interpreting the holy doctrines into what aligns with their perspective. It is everyone's choice to believe whatever they want to believe.
