One of the big advantages of social media today is that it has brought opportunities for a lot of industries and individuals to grow. Like it or not a lot of people are making money online and would continue to do so. While this is really great, it has made people do almost everything from the comfort of their homes and while this can be great to some, there are those who find it concerning. But also dismissed it later on because at the end of the day, those who want to be lazy would look for other ways to be lazy while those who want to come out of their houses to work would always find a reason to, and those who love the comfort of their home but are also hardworking would benefit most from it. Everyone has their own perspective to this, and I do not see any reason why one person's joy should be a concern for another person.

I had a team meeting today and we were discussing our departmental plan for the year. One of them is going in the direction of social media and content creation and that was because we have discovered that it is high time the oil and gas sector came into the social media space. We want to be one of the first to do this and gain authority in it because it is the only way we can grow (by doing things differently) Oil and gas usually say their customers are not on social media, but when we took the statistics, we discovered that if the automobile industry can be trying to gain authority on social media while sharing a similar client base with the oil and gas industry then we too can start gaining authority online. When I pitched this idea to the management today it was very much accepted but when I did this same thing two years back I was met with a lot of blockage.

This only means that social media is evolving and with that comes unprecedented changes that are affecting both individuals and businesses. Things that could not have ever been imagined as close as two years ago are very much possible now. Has it made life easier, yes of course, has it changed the way things are now done, yes, has people become lazier, obviously yes, but should it continue, absolutely. I mean, except you love suffering, a time would come when even big businesses can be operated from the comfort of the house and when it comes, we need to be ready because the world is evolving and so should we. If we decide to start complaining about just the effects (which can be very much adjusted to be minimal) we will fail to see the bigger picture and would be left behind when everything and everyone has evolved. I do not see anything wrong with this type of evolution, it just means that there are a set of people finding it easier to do things their way, if you don’t like it, then don’t do it. If you are an outdoor person, there are a lot of outdoor persons, and if you are better suited for online conversations, there are a whole lot too. Just choose your world and live in it.
