The Joy Of Bringing Back A Forgotten Tradition

Growing up, many of us dreamed of having superpowers. Our childhoods were filled with fantasies and endless possibilities. The movies we watched filled out imaginations and also heightened it with endless possibilities. Many of us dreamed of having superpowers like flying like superhuman, becoming invisible, running across the world within seconds like The Flash, or teleporting from one country to another. Teleportation was one of my favorites. I often imagine how many countries I would visit if I had the power to teleport. Among all the superpowers I wished I had, one that also made the list that fits in to today’s Hive learner’s prompt is the ability to bring something or someone back to life. Sounds pretty interesting, right?

Today, the Hive Learner’s community wants us to let our imagination soar with a very interesting topic. If you could bring back something that had gone extinct, what would it be? It could be an animal, a person, a product, or a way of life. I have thought about this many times, and concluded that if something or someone has gone extinct, it is probably for the best reasons, so it would be best to leave things the way they are. Let’s use dinosaurs as a case study. Dinosaurs have gone extinct, but there is proof that they existed on earth long ago. Of course, I have never seen a dinosaur, but from the movies I have seen, they are gigantic creatures that could crush you with a single step. If dinosaurs were still alive, human beings would not be able to live, or at least, they would have a hard time surviving. Just with a single step, a dinosaur could stomp and ā€œunaliveā€ a person.

I’m sure you agree with me that the fact that dinosaurs have gone into extinction is for the right reasons. This is also the same for other animals that have gone extinct. If I had the power to bring back something, someone or an animal back to life or a way of life, I would not bring back any animal. I’m the same vein, I would not bring back someone who has died back to life. Although death is inevitable, it can be really painful, especially to family and friends. We have all lost someone close to us to the gruesome hands of death. If we had the power to bring someone back to life, I’m sure we would have no hesitation but to bring our favorite persons who have left us. However, I don’t think this way. In my view, those who have left us are in a better place. What if they are happy wherever they are? What if they are living comfortable lifestyles? What if bringing them back to life means we are snatching the joy they are enjoying and bringing them back to suffer in life? These are the things I think about.

If I had that power today, I wouldn’t use it to revive a person or an animal, but rather a way of living that seems to have quietly faded. I would bring back the lifestyle we once had before technology took over everything. Life before technology became the center of everything was amazing. There were no iPhones, Samsungs, laptops, gaming systems, and social media platforms, but life was beautiful and interesting. We lived our lives without worry about likes, reblogs and comments. I remember how my cousins, friends and I would gather around, invent games and have fun. Growing up, my parents house was always filled with people; friends from the neighborhood and relatives; the ones close by and distant ones who came to visit. Unlike today where everyone is so focused on their cellphones, pressing one thing or the other, we would all stay together and have fun.

Those were the days when we would all sit in the living room in front of a small TV, watching Jackie Chan's Drunken Master, The Gods Must Be Crazy, and other interesting movies. Even if it's just for a day, it would be amazing to bring this lifestyle back to life. Those days when family time was a big deal would surely be nice to experience. I believe reviving that way of life for at least a day would put smiles on our faces.

Hahaha šŸ˜‚. So you are missing how we gather around to play games and have fun? Truth be told, we don't have any body's time now. Every one is busy with his or her phone
Thanks

Omo!!! Those days we will see children even us then, we will gather at someone’s window that has a tv. šŸ˜‚ Those days were really good. We don’t even mind getting beatings for doing some of those things because it was so much fun and memorable.

As time goes by, humans keeps drifting away from what their actually need to things that should not matter to us.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Favey. 🌹
