Leave for a mental health can be a great idea

Health is wealth and it's a very important thing for us. It is true that we are chasing money desperately, but we should maintain our health properly. Otherwise, I think it's useless to make money if we become sick because we cannot enjoy our life with an unhealthy or unfit body. What’s the benefit if earning money when we can’t enjoy it how we want or we don’t have the mindset to enjoy with the money. So, we can’t take our health lightly.

When it comes to health most of us think only about physical health but most of the time, we ignore our mental health. It’s the old way of thinking and we are still thinking about it in that way but it’s time to change such a mentality because we are going to suffer if we don’t have such a mentality. In every year we are allowed to take sick leave, and it’s permitted almost in ever workplace. Do you think that there should be a leave like that for the mental health? What’s your opinion about this?

From the surface, it sounds like a good idea, and it needs to be appreciated, and people should be allowed to take the leave whenever they need it. I think that working with full spirit and working with half spirit or less can create huge differences. Our work activities become slow when we are not fully fit mentally. Low spirit affects the work performance directly and it reduces the efficiency of the work. So, we need to take mental health seriously. If a company allows 3/4 days of leave for a worker for mental health, it won’t be a bad idea because the company will benefit in long run. Moreover, the staff or employees of the company will be more satisfied with getting more holidays for them. It will boost their spirit which will bring better performance from the workers. So, it’s reasonable to give such a leave if the company wants the efficiency.

But it can bring a negative consequence also. There is no way to verify the worker will use the leave for the reason why the leave is taken. If workers just waste those days doing something else like making efforts to make extra money from elsewhere, it won’t bring any benefit. Even after their return, it won’t boost their spirit, and they won’t increase their efficiency at work. Moreover, it will be a loss for the company to give workers extra leave as they are supposed to work on those days also. I believe that most people will waste that time doing something else. If there is a way to verify the workers will use that leave for mental health, it will be a great idea in my opinion.
