THE SILENT GROWTH

One interesting thing I have come to know about growth is how insignificant it can be sometimes and it seems like it is never really going on. Interestingly, as humans or anything that has life, we experience growth every single second but then, most of these growths are so small that they go unnoticed until years later. This is one reason why a lot of times I find myself feeling ungrateful and sad about my life, thinking that nothing is changing and I’m still the same little girl of years ago.

For this week’s Hivelearners topic, we are asked to write on WHO ARE YOU? Talking about how far we have come in the past 15-20 years. The truth is, even though we experienced some slow growth throughout those years, at this point, some things have become really clear and we are more grateful of where we have come from to where we are now. Of course, there might be some people who have gone from a good place to a bad one but then, one thing is certain, they are still growing regardless.

About 15 years ago, I was still a little girl, one that was focused more on school and playing in the neighborhood with her neighbors. I never really thought about anything too much because all I needed was ask from my dad. But fast forward to today, I still ask things from my dad but majority of the things I need are things that I can provide for myself now. On some good days, I can even be of help to my dad too. And that’s something that I thought was going to take too long to start happening. At some point I was even worried how I was going to achieve something like this because my family was not doing so well in so many ways and it was beginning to affect the way I see things. Well, I’ll say I was hopeful that things will never stay the same and they didn’t.

If my past self was to see me now, they will still recognize me. But they will probably think they were having a wild imagination. Why? Because my life has drastically changed even though sometimes I feel ungrateful and try to feel entitled. If my old self from about 15 years was to see me now, they will be happy and at the same time, they will also want to ask some questions like why I ended up in some ways that I did. I had a lot of dreams different from where I am now and they will probably want to know why that has to change and I might probably just say “we thank God”.

My life was pretty much the same in my eyes even when I became an adult but just some few years back, I realized how those long years have been the major reason why I’m striving so well today. Those years felt like a standstill for me, but they weren’t at all. They were my years of learning and acquiring experiences from different people and experiences. I noticed the drastic change about 4 years ago when I started working for someone. I had so many experiences there that made me realized that I had so many things I need to learn and I tried to learn and I was able to become better at some while I’m still working on the others.

Few months later, I was introduced to hive and that was a great game changer for me. I met amazing people and my sister, she was just so supportive in every way she could. Well, I never even had to disturb her too much to teach me about a lot of things, I had already mastered the act of learning and that helped me a lot on hive and also in getting me to where I am now. Right now, I have changed a lot in those 3-4 years that I have joined hive than I have changed in the last 15-20 years but it was only possible because of those long years of learning how to learn, unlearn and relearn.
