THE QUEST FOR LEARNING

It’s another beautiful week and if you follow up with my writeups, it’s expected that I’ll be posting something to this community to share my take on the topic chosen. Well, this week is no different. For the first edition, we are asked to share our take on GETTING EDUCATED so without further delay, let’s dive into my contribution to this topic. Feel free to drop your take, questions and corrections at the comments if you have any.

It’s been years and years since the invention of a learning system. A place where people go to for them to acquire a formal education on different fields and also learn to be upright. Different countries over these years have adopted this system and over the world we have different institutions of learning and this has in so many ways be of help to humanity. Here in my country Nigeria, there are also many well know good learning institutions that have helped groomed some heroes and heroines over time.

It took African in particular, time to accept education for both genders but today, education is opened to everyone. We even have all boys and all girls schools. This is to also make room for those who might not be comfortable with mixed gender schools to also pursue education. Today, whether male or female, and even disabled, here in my country you are allowed to go to the farthest level of learning as long as that is what you want and you can afford it. The only thing that might hold anyone back is the money to further their education and lack of information. But there is no more rules stopping anyone from acquiring knowledge for themselves.

Right now, I attend one of the well known institutions in Nigeria and every session, the number of people both male and female students that apply for admission is always on the high. Most times, more than 50% of those that apply don’t usually get an admission into the university or they get a totally different course to study because there is a range of students that can be admitted every year. It has been the war of the fittest. Most times when you visit some tutorials, you will find thousands of students learning just to make sure they are part of the 50% that will be given admission into the universities of their choice.

Thanks to private universities and state universities, those other 50% don’t have to wait for another year because if they do, the chances for them doesn’t get better, instead it decreases because there is every possibility of the number of aspirants will increase the following year. These days, most people want to go to school, either from a genuine heart or because of the pressure they get from others. And besides, these days people just see acquiring a formal education as a necessity so they make more effort to get into higher institutions. Of course, primary and secondary these days feels like a must even though not everyone still wants to.

Most people now have one or more reasons why they have to get educated and that has pushed a lot of persons to key into the system. The government are not totally encouraging the whole thing but it’s a thing of joy to know that no one is restricted access to education. There might still be some countries that lack systems for people to learn but over the years, that number has dropped significantly. Getting education is now on the list of everyone but on different numbers on that list, hehe.

Hopefully more people will put in the effort to get a formal education because besides learning, it is also a great avenue to discover yourself and also meet people that will push you to be either better or worse. The choice is all yours to make.

Thank you for reading through. ❤️

Nice one! The most important work in education and growth is in self-development.

Education is important and you're right, it's not everyone that wants to go to school. I don't think school or the learning environment is where you find people who can push you to be either good or bad, that can be seen anywhere.

Yes, it can be seen everywhere but the school system is a very good template for that.

Thank you for your input.

Yeah. We have actually moved from believing that education is not meant for us and accepted it with all our hearts.
As you rightly said, there is freedom of education. Both the male and female.
