L-EARN

Growing up, one of my favorite slogan is that, I have to learn before I can earn. To earn anything, be it good relationships, good grades, good lifestyle, good income, name it, I have to learn first. Most times, before I start blaming others about my misfortune or for something that didn't go well, I look at myself and tell myself the truth. Things would have been way better if I had settled down to learn rather than going faster than my shadow. Similarly, over the years, the world has been on almost repeated cycles. We do the same things that we knew didn’t yield good results and we realize it and then we still do it again.

Just yesterday, I read a post here on hive when the author talked about how much people are holding onto bad habits despite the fact that they know it is not good for them. And like the illustration he used, he said, can we still go ahead to drink bad water if we know it’s bad? And the answer is, no, we can’t. We won’t. But sadly, when it comes to our attitudes and habits, we think something is different but nothing is different actually. As long as we see that something is not good, the best thing to do is not to do it.

Over the years, we have seen declines in different aspects of humanity and the honest truth is that it is becoming more alarming by the day. And for this week’s 2nd edition of the hivelearners topic, we are asked to share some HISTORY REPEATS. Personally I’m not sure exactly what history might repeat itself but from the look of things, there are so many areas history has repeated itself, is repeating itself and will or might repeat itself. But for the sake of this post, I’ll like to focus on just one aspect - The global economy.

So far so good, we have seen the huge decline in the global economy. It’s as if things are getting worse by the day and it is really alarming. I did a little research and I found out that this is not the first time the world will be experiencing something like this. All over the world, we hear of just how much people keep complaining about the inflation rate of living and everything in between. Yes, everyone seems to be working but it still seems like things are not getting any better. Our currencies are going down and cost of living keeps increasing.

There is hardly anyone not complaining about the economy. Or at least noticing the way things are going. I fear that in more years to come, things might only get worse. But then, I always believe that as long as there is a problem, it only means the solution to it is not far away and that’s where learning comes in. As long as we all can be opened to learning, I believe things will get better. There are so many ways I believe we can make progress in the way things are going and one of them is that we should keep on investing in the education of our children and people in general.

We should invest more time as an individuals, society, nation, state, country and even as a whole to eradicating ignorance amongst us. Most times, I feel most people do what they do because they lack the knowledge of the effects it has on others and even on themselves. Education should be well funded so as to encourage everyone to take advantage of it. If everyone can invest more time into learning, I believe it will solve a lot of the problems we have today. These days, everyone just wants to earn without learning and that’s not how it works.

Like I said, I’m not sure if things will get any better if we keep going in this direction but as long as we are always open to learning, I believe it will be better. No one knows what the future holds for us so we can only keep trying to work towards making tomorrow better and not the other way around. Let’s channel our efforts into learning (all of us) and let’s see how things turn out for us.
