DRAWING THE LINE

In a world where it’s hard to know what the next person is thinking about, life can be really difficult and unsafe. I guess that’s why the Bible said something about the heart of man being desperately wicked because if one gets the opportunity to see what they are thinking about, it might even surprise the devil. Sometimes, there are some things I think about and I wonder where that evil thought came from. Now I know why the Bible also keeps advising us to be mindful of the things we spend our time thinking about and doing and most especially, the things we do.

According to the hivelearners last edition for this week, we are asked to share our thoughts on SOCIAL MEDIA CALL-OUT. Will it be suitable to put someone away from their jobs or school because of a random post by someone on their social media account or even by the person? Especially when we know that these days a lot of people just create some sort of contents just to get fame and the likes. I’m very sure there are so many ways to look at this and mine will just be one of them. So without further ado, let’s talk about this based on what Hope thinks, shall we?

This won’t be the first time I’m coming across a topic like this and right now, I’m not even sure what my points were the last time but I’m very sure that my response now will be way different from the last time and that’s because, people change. I know we always think and even say people don’t change but I don’t think that’s true. People change based on the ideas that they surround themselves with. Based on the people they walk with, the places they go and even live in and so many other reasons. People change due to the state of their health too. So, people CHANGE. Why am I emphasizing on the fact that people change? That’s because when we tend to judge people based on how we first saw them (I don’t know about you, but I do), it will only hurt us more when we see that they change to something else that we aren’t use to.

Dismissing someone based on a post on the social media is possible but then, as a company or a school, it’s good not to take rash decisions in this regards especially when the person in question pleads to be heard. And if there is any possibility that the message passed is true, as long as the person shows genuine remorse and what they have done is not against the country’s constitution, I think it’s worth giving that person a second chance under close surveillance. I believe everyone deserves a second chance or even another opportunity as long as they show genuine remorse. But when it has to do with something that it’s not negotiable, it’s advisable to drop them.

Like I will always like to say, that could be me or you. So if you were the one there, do you think you will want the judgement to be a little different from what you are about to state for someone else? If yes, then that’s the verdict you should also make for this person. But if you still want such decisions to be melted out to you genuinely, then it means such a person deserves that verdict and you should go ahead with it or still even give a second chance. I’m stressing on giving a second chance because I have been in so many situations when I made really wrong decisions because of what I was facing at the time and I know a lot of us have been there before.

A company that lays down a worker based on what they saw randomly on the social media without trying to confirm whether or not is try or if the person is still doing such things, then there is something more beneath the carpet that we can’t see. You deserve a second opportunity to prove yourself, I do and so does everyone. I know it’s hard to give second chances and more sometimes but then, it’s worth giving a try most times.

Thank you for reading through. ❤️

Yes I agree with the fact that people should be given second chances, but people using social Media should be careful too, I have noticed a trend with people on social media these days, they just nonchalantly post whatever comes to their head without thinking about the effects or consequences, cyber bullying is now on the high side

That’s why I was specific about people to give second chances, those who are remorseful.

And yes, I pray God help us. 🤲

Nothing is more true than that people change, some for the better and others for the worse.
Sometimes it's neither for the better nor for the worse; it's simply that your projects don't mesh with each other, and contradictions and discrepancies arise.

That’s right. Change is not definite with humans. We just hope for the best.

Thanks for stopping by.

Truly people can change and we shouldn't judge people by one post.

Overall I think each should be out through thorough verification to decide, because it's complicated and we know it's out of the abundance of the heart that we speak or type.

Like I said at the end, if the person deserves the punishment, it won’t be hard to know. As long as we are not doing it out of spite for the person but a way to correct their actions, then I think it’s even for their own good.

There are definitely cases when the person should be dropped. It’s not even negotiable.

Dismissing someone just based on a post is ok or not depends on what kind of post it is and what the impact of the post. If it's something serious and sensitive and capable enough to ruin the image of company/organization it's ok to dismiss. But those post can't be considered as random post.

That’s right. It can’t be a random post.
