COMPROMISED BUT NOT DEFEATED

Oh no! I think I have been compromised. Wait! Let’s take it slowly but just keep it in mind that I might have been compromised. When it comes to living well, it entails a lot of things and one major one is dependent on the environment we live in. Most times, we often overlook this part of our lives and that’s due to so many reasons (now you know why I said I might have been compromised). Well, for this week's last topic for the hivelearners community, we are asked to share our thoughts on what an healthy environment is for us. So without further ado, let’s find out what it is for me.

Growing up, I don’t think I have even lived in an “healthy environment” sadly. I have always found myself in situations when I’m just grateful that I have a roof over my head and because of that, I most times don’t give thought to whether or not my environment is healthy. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have an idea of what an healthy environment should be like. Personally, an healthy environment has to be all encompassing. Even as far as to the individuals in that environment. I have lived in places where people do things not caring about what the effect has on others and it’s really sad. For me, such an environment is far from healthy even if it had some other benefits.

With that said, there are some major things I look out for in an environment for me to classify it as an healthy environment. One of them is the availability of good water and ventilation. Having access to water anytime it is needed is one of the things I find vital for living a good life and a healthy environment shouldn’t be lacking in this regards. Another attribute I look out for is good neighbors. Having good neighbors is something that is priceless because I have been in neighborhoods where you will keep wishing you didn’t have neighbors.

Having good roads and a noise free environment. Streets that have potholes and bad road paths is not safe and I won’t classify it an healthy environment even if it has good neighbors and water. This is because on days when it rains, things will be so messy and inconvenient for those living in environments like that. So for an environment to be healthy, I believe it should have good roads and it should be noise free (unnecessary noise).

Also the environment should be clean and have good waste management policies. It shouldn’t be an environment that is hard to clean by one person if they want to. Here in my country, this is impossible in some parts. People are already so used to allowing their environment stay unkept because it’s almost like a waste trying to be clean because someone else is somewhere planning to do the opposite. So for an environment to be healthy, it should be waste-free.

No matter how little, there should be good amount of trees, animals and gardens around. I find that really healthy for an environment and if it’s not there, it will always feel like something is missing. There are so many other things like electricity, security and food. If all of these things are in good state, that environment is an healthy one for me. There might be more but as long as these ones are in place, I think the other ones are things that I can try to fix myself.

Right now, where I live is far from healthy. There are barely any good roads. There is a lot of noise pollution. There is water. The environment is far from clean. It’s always a struggle whenever it rains. My neighbors are trying though but sometimes I don’t know. The environment is a bit safe but for the fact that there are no street lights at night, it’s sad because it’s a student environment and some students go to school at night to read and most times when they return home, it’s still dark and they will have to walk in the dark home. I don’t think I can do anything about the environment I live in now. My plan is just put up with it until I’m done with school. Yeah, this is why I said I’m compromised, lol.

Thanks for reading through. ❤️

Hahaha 😂. I was just laughing while reading because we share the same kind of growing up history. Mine was worse because I had to deal with infections for so many years because of the kind of environmental I grew up in.
All thanks to God that is all in the past now.
Thanks for sharing

While reading this, I just looked at my environment, and it's nothing to speak home about. There's noise everywhere, let's say we only have good roads and water. But the air pollution is really bad, I guess we all have to endure till we get a better place.

That’s the sad truth and the part when we compromise.

Thanks for stopping by. 🥰
