A few years ago, I attended a friend's wedding. The wedding and traditional marriage were scheduled for the same day and based on the invitation, the venue for the traditional marriage seemed to be not so far from the town.
I attended the wedding with the plan of also going for the traditional and coming back home same day.
After the wedding and taking pictures, it was almost 2 pm and we headed for the village for the traditional marriage. We arrived there few minutes past 3 pm because it was an hour journey. As if that was not enough, the venue was still yet to be fully decorated, the DJ had not arrived and many other signs that pointed to unreadiness.
I began to enquire as to the reason why they were yet to start the event proper and got shocked; the traditional marriage in her place is an all night event.
I couldn't believe my ears, I had no intention of sleeping in someone's village and I was not even prepared for such.
I began seeking my way out alongside two friends who also didn't expect such turn of events.

At this point, we encountered serious challenge of transportation because almost all the vehicles we saw were coming in and only few were leaving. And all those leaving were already filled up.
Time was running out as it was getting late and we needed to leave the village especially since it was 1 hour from town and almost 2 hours from our side of town.
We were willing to pay any amount just to leave that village but we didn't even see any willing vehicle or driver.
The situation was becoming more and more hopeless as we trekked out of the village because we were now far from the girls place but still not close to our destination. It was like the proverbial "between the devil and the red sea".
Then came a glimmer of hope when a car finally halted when we flagged it down. This was neither a commercial vehicle nor a public transport, in fact it was a luxury car. Ideally, we wouldn't have flagged it down but for our desperation.
To our surprise, he halted and agreed he was going into town. There was also enough space for my friends and I.
Because of our circumstances, we didn't mind paying any price, so we didn't even ask the price of transporting us, we just hopped in.
The man happened to be a very chill person, drove us right into town and didn't request any money from us.
So in summary, this man rescued us from our stranded position, in a very beautiful car unlike our imagination, drove us quickly into town and still did not collect a dime from us.
He was indeed like an angel sent to rescue us that very day.
