The Kind of Planning Nobody Talks About

This prompt reminded me of the IndianUnited prompt a few weeks ago and also looking at the situation of things now around the world. Though we might not agree with it. We have a lot of ongoing active wars between countries and even within countries. But let's say a world war began now; the very first thing I will do is to check all the things I cannot afford to lose. This time, it is not money. Not even property. But all the people in my life who are families, because to me. Family is everything.

And reading this prompt topic through, I have never imagined myself joining the army, let alone joining during an active war. Because I understand the idea of being a patriot and standing and defending my beloved country. At the same time I also know the reality, which is, I don't know how to operate a gun, let alone understand the training for war. There are some days that I get overwhelmed with normal day pressure. So I will save myself from going through the stress of putting on the courage I don't have, because the first thing I will make sure I do will be strategic and quiet planning.

I will not panic or start running around so I can think straight. I will stay quiet in a place, thinking about my next movement. Searching for a place that people won't put their eyes on because it is quiet. Preferably a land with just fewer people, unlike other areas. Which made me remember one of my uncles from my mother's side that usually says his area is too silent for him because it's a new site with just a few houses. And I think that type of area will be a bit free from danger because during an active war, the most targeted areas are those crowded areas.

I and my family will quietly move there before everyone starts to panic. Then my next plan is to place my attention and focus on a survival thing people tend to look away from. Not a big stockpiling like I see in some places. But mine is going to be a basic and steady preparation in the way of drying foods that are dryable. Saving up water and getting some basic drugs and medicines, both herbal and scientific ones. I am sure those things hardly attract attention. Because what I have seen and learned is that when people around get to know that I have something, that thing stops being mine alone, and a little “Please, can we use your…” starts coming in.

Like they usually say, information is key. And with any little information I know. I will make sure to safeguard it because people tend to turn true information into rumors, which might lead to chaos. And I will not rely on hand-to-hand information because those types of information are always amplified in a way that people will always add theirs. What I will always do is verify before accepting it.

And what I will be more worried about are the external people around, not necessarily the war. Because from my little experience, I have seen how situations change people so fast. How people turn, their back on eachother and sell eachother out. So I will say my real preparation for that will be something mental and not a physical one alone. Because in a war situation like that, the best thing I can think of is to always remain calm, steady hopeful and optimistic that things will eventually go back to normal one day and not trying to be a war hero. Because to me, it's better to remain alive with those families that I love than to be a causality of war in the name of doing like a strong man. And that matters to me in a situation like that though I always pray not to witness any things like war because it's bad.
