Lies in Shades
Not everyone tells lies, that's a joke, right? because I don't believe that; yes, people lie for various reasons, whether for selfish interest or to protect a friend or loved one's feelings. Still, a lie is what it is —a lie.
We live in a funny generation where not only are we experiencing evolution in most areas of life, our acts and attitude too are also part of these so-called upgrades, people now defend lying, trying to paint it in a good light, and even give it colors, some call it a white lie, and others choose to call theirs a lie of omission. While a white lie is seen as the lie you commit to protect someone's feelings, but what gives you the right to lie, the later is even more deceptive, imagine witholding certain important information from someone while relaying an event, experience or information, this is even worst, because people instantly start judging based on what you tell them, and when you withold an informaton that would have brought more understandding of the situation and allow people place better judgement, you feel because aren't outright lieing on the things you said, then it's fine, no it is not, Lie in whatever form can be harmful.
And yes, i've had my own fair share of being in a situation where this sort of lie was told, it's one of the reasons why when it comes to husband and wife issues, i will rather not judge the other based on what one of then said when they are in conflict, because during these time, they are emotionally unstable, hurt and whatever, and might want to taint their spouse as a bad person, whether true or not, it's best to listen to the both parties before advising or placing any judgement.
I was once opportuned to be in a meeting that was trying to settle a couple dispute, the wife was the one who brought the issue of how bad her husband was and how he had been treating her unfairly, the things she said made everyone feel pity for her and blamed the husband of his unruly act, while everyone were inputing and bashing the husband I kept mute and observed everything, at some point, they decided to call the attention of the man, to talk to him abouthis character and also avice him, but when he came and told his own side of the story, it turned out the wife was he the source of the problem, she had cheated on her husband and was caught, but out of shame, the man did not want to disgrace her, rather became cold towards her because the trust was gone, and this was over a year ago, they were still livng under the same roof but as roommates, no longer as couples, the love was gone.
Now this is the same woman who had tarnished the husband's image the whole time, forgetting that for every action, there would always be a reaction, which she was currently facing. So lying by omission can even pass as the worst type of lie because of the consequences that follow thereafter.
