The world as we know it today revolves around countless inventions, from discovering fire to having electricity today and so much more. In fact, life has become easier compared to the times in the past as new inventions surfaces everyday, that being stated, we can't deny how helpful inventors have made life for us as the world evolves.

Although most investors have good intentions when their curiosity piques to create something new, there are those who invent things for obvious bad reasons, which can lead the government or people in power to ban these inventions for bad purposes. The problem lies when the inventions with good purposes by the inventors go on to be used for bad things. And this is more common than we think. Look around you today, you will see youths getting high on drugs that were originally meant to cure some illness, reduce pain, and increase the quality of life. As simple as cough syrup is, it is being abused by some people, taken in overdose to get high. So who is to blame? the inventors or the user?

Users should be made accountable for their choice on how they use these items, which is why we have law agencies in place to bring balance. Take a kitchen knife for instance, some of us use it to make our cooking easier and faster, while that same knife can be used by some individuals to cause harm or even take a life, now do we just ban the use of knives totally, and blame the inventors, that is a very absurd thing to do, as assigning blame primarily to inventors oversimplifies a very complex problem of we humans, the problem of law and order, the problem of mental state of the users and more. Innovation should not be discouraged simply because misuse is possible; this will just bring evolution and progress the world is making to a stop

Of course, we can't blame the inventors or scientists who have probably spent a major part of their life and effort to bring a solution to life in that aspect, as long as they have made further study and made aware the negative effects of misuse, as the object on its own causes no harm until being misused.

If blame is indeed to be assigned, it cannot rest solely on users or even on inventors; the manufacturers and regulators should also share the responsibility of ensuring that what they sell to the public is safe, properly communicated on how to use these items, and it should be ethically distributed and monitored. For instance, when such cough syrups, often used for highness, begin to sell out beyond normal demand, we know there is a problem, and this is where regulators/ law enforcers step in. Inventors may not control every misuse, but they do influence the environment in which their inventions exist.

In conclusion, inventions in itself is neutral, and can neither be moral nor immoral. It is human action that defines their impact. Rather than seeking who to take the blame, we as a society must embrace shared accountability and encourage responsible use of inventions.
