THE PROS AND CONS OF TECHNOLOGY ON AGRICULTURE

Technology has immensely transformed a lot of things in virtually all sectors that we have. For me i would say technology has done more good than bad. Before i delve into the peak of the topic i would like to give a general perspective on what technology has done to humanity and society at large. If it were not for technology I wonder where we would have been today.

Just yesterday, we were discussing on how we would advance our fellowship. The president kept lamenting how that we have never had a physical this year. One of our members clearly said he has been controlling the whole nation but they've not met for once rather they normally meet online. This became necessary because it helps to shrink lots of expenses especially in transportation. Just imagine how much would one spend before he travels to the venue of the meeting? Since the advent of this, one could save money for other purposes. That's technology for you and its benefits.

There is a great improvement in agricultural practices in present day farming. The invention of some of these equipment has boosted the capacity of most people that engage in farming. My friend that like commercial farming decided to expand it and couldn't do it himself but had to high other machines. He had one of the largest farm that year.

When I was growing up, my parents farmed very well especially maize. They used normal compost manure which gave more increase of yield. All debris, ash and other dirty around the house were packed and discarded in one place which later is used to apply to the plant. This practice had no environmental effects nor did it have any negative impact on people's lives and the surrounding. Such plants after harvest when you eat it, you become satisfied and stays in the stomach for a while. There wasn't challenges of some plant diseases we have today. In fact with such practices there wasn't cases of erosion unlike what we have in an advanced technology.

With the introduction of technology, hybrid has been produced which doesn't give real quality as the original one in those days. Everything seems to be synthetic now which even affects people's growth and development. It would interest you to know that the food we eat these days doesn't stay long in the stomach. Application of chemicals called fertiliser has altered the growth of some plants. Instead of the normal time to grow its forced to riped quickly which could cause some diseases to human and also destroy the ecosystem.

Have you noticed some ground aren't longer fertile? All macro and micro nutrients have been tampered with which made it porous and more expensive to maintain it. If you don't have enough money, you may not be able to sustain some farming activities because you would be buying different things from the start to finish of the farm.
We brought banana the other day and ut wasn't sweet. A chemical was used to cause the sudden ripening of that fruit. This could cause cancer and other health complication matter.

Technology is good however it has caused both good and bad effects on agriculture. It's good to fall back to aome ancient way of doing things than what i am seeing now.
