Freedom from medications

(edited)

So many times, we neglect simple stuff which could help us avoid taking lots of medication. I used to love exercise while growing up a lot and I was dedicated to doing what I love. When Kaduna state was at that time insecure and unsafe for us to go out for early morning Walks as a result of fear, I switched to downloading different exercises apps on my phone to help me through the journey. All of a sudden, I desired to add more weight....wait did I say all of a sudden? Nope it was something I nursed gradually.

When my passion increased, I stopped all exercise and even deleted the apps that were helping me while looking forward to adding weight. Note that I used to be a big baby before the whole exercise paparazzi. It didn't take long for results to start showing and I was happy about the transformation. Where I would walk to before I prefer to take a bike, eat like there was no tomorrow and it paid off.

After gaining weight, I noticed for every little thing I do, I was always tired complaining of body aches. Pain killer drugs was one thing I would run too for relief. Climbing little hills was the worst. I remember one time I climbed a two storey building and when coming down my legs were shaking and my friend had to assist me to come.

Not long after that day, I decided I would cut down on my eating habit and go back to my exercise. For four months now, I have been consistent with my exercise, and I have indeed seen some changes no more pain killers.

Secondly was screen time. It took a lot of determination to finally say no to excessive spending time on my device. If I am not working which takes less than three to four hours, the rest times I am busy doing nothing and would never drop my phone. My parents have complained because I go to bed late but I never listened. It got worse that sometimes when operating my phone, my head begins to spin and I have no choice than to drop the phone for an hour or two lying face up because my eyes were affected. A lot of times eye drops would be applied in my eyes too.

I went to the pharmacy to complain about the condition and the pharmacist advised me to take enough sleep. Still yet I did not stop until one faithful Sunday, I woke up peacefully did my house chores and went to shower. As I was about leaving home for church I began to heat up and my eyes were spinning real fast. This was different from all others and it lasted for longer hours. After I became calm all through that day I stayed away from my phone and even had to start regulation screen hours. If it's something not important, I am out.

Consistent exercise and regulating screen time has helped me stay away from medications till date and am not giving up anytime soon.
