I don't think that people should be told who to vote for, To me that is completely against what democracy's supposed to be about, If someone is telling you who to vote for then where is your freedom of choice, Is the point of voting not that people get to decide for themselves who they believe is the best candidate?

When people say "vote for this candidate" or "vote your conscience " I understand what they mean, they want voters to think carefully before making a decision instead of just following trends, sentiments or empty promises.. The moment someone starts deciding who the "right candidate" is for everyone else that is where I have a problem.
The truth is that people have values, priorities and opinions, The candidate I think is the best may not be the person another voter believes in, What looks like a good choice to me may not look the same to someone else, That is why democracy allows people to make their decisions whether others agree with them or not.
Imagine a country where citizens are simply told who to vote for, At that point elections become almost meaningless, Why even go through the process of voting if the decision has already been made for you, Democracy would slowly turn into something entirely, yes of citizens choosing their leaders, leaders or powerful groups would be choosing on behalf of citizens.
I would rather people be educated about the candidates than be told who to vote for, Give voters information let them know the candidates backgrounds, achievements, plans, strengths and weaknesses, Let them compare and analyze and after that allow them to make their choice whether they make a good decision or a bad one, at least it was their decision.
Because there are situations where the wrong choice may seem very obvious,Sometimes a candidate has a bad record , he makes unrealistic promises or has shown repeatedly that they are not fit for leadership, In this cases people can point out those issues and encourage others to think critically, even then they should not force a voting decision on anyone.
Looking at Nigeria I think this discussion becomes more complicated, Many Nigerians already feel frustrated with the process. Every election season there are complaints about irregularities, vote buying, manipulation and claims that results do not always reflect the will of the people, because of this some citizens lose confidence in the system.
With all these challenges I still do not think the solution is to tell people who to vote for, That would only create another problem, instead of improvingit ,democracy would weaken it further. The real solution should be making elections transparent, fair and credible so that peoples votes actually count.
When voters believe their votes matter they are more likely to participate and take the process seriously, if people are instructed who to support or feel that the outcome has already been decided many will stop caring altogether.
At the end of the day democracy is, about choice, sometimes people will make choices we agree with, and sometimes they will not, that is part of the system, Freedom means allowing people to decide for themselves not making decisions on their behalf.
No I do not believe people should be told who to vote for. They should be free to choose whoever they want after considering the facts and thinking for themselves. We can advise, educate, debate and share opinions.. The final decision should always belong to the voter. Otherwise we are no longer talking about democracy we are talking about control.

I love this.
I as well do not believe anybody should be told who to vote for, this is democracy. Everyone had their choice and the right to vote for whom they feel they want. Even though me may and may not agree with their choice. We can't impose on them to vote a certain person.
Thanks for sharing.
❤️❤️❤️
I totally agree with you about people being told who to vote for, now that is not democracy again. Voting has to do with our expression of opinion and choice “our individual choice”
