Free will is the ability to make our own choices and decisions without being controlled by external forces.

It is true that God gave us free will, but free will can become disastrous if there are no laws to govern it.
Sleeping with someone else’s wife is an example of free will being abused. Many people engage in such acts, often secretly, because they know there are consequences if they are caught. This is an abuse of free will because it is morally wrong to have a relationship with someone else’s spouse.
This is one reason societies establish leaders, rules, and regulations to prevent chaos and maintain order.
I once heard of a man who built part of his house on someone else’s land because he needed a little more space for his own building. He relied on his own decision and proceeded without seeking the permission of the landowner.
Unfortunately for him, the owner of the land objected and demanded that the encroaching part of the building be demolished. The man refused, and the matter was taken to court. After reviewing the case, the court ruled that the portion of the building standing on the other person’s land had to be demolished because it was a clear case of trespassing.
If free will existed without laws, he could have done this and gone unpunished. Such a situation could easily have led to violence between both parties. Thankfully, the law provided a peaceful solution and prevented unnecessary conflict.

There are many disadvantages to free will without law. It would mean that no one truly owns anything. Your land would not be yours, your wife would not be your wife, and your property would not belong to you because anyone could simply decide to take or use them based on their own desires.
These things still happen in the world today, but they come with consequences, and those consequences discourage many others from doing the same.
Even with laws in place, I believe we still have free will, just not the freedom to do absolutely anything without consequences. We are free to make choices, but we are also responsible for the outcomes of those choices. Laws do not remove free will; they simply set boundaries to protect people and maintain order.
Without rules and laws, society would be filled with endless disputes, conflicts, and chaos. The peace and stability we enjoy today are possible because people have agreed to live under systems that protect rights, settle disagreements fairly, and hold individuals accountable for their actions.
Free will is a gift, but when it is used without responsibility, it becomes dangerous. Freedom works best when it is balanced with morality, responsibility, and the rule of law.
