Different Talents, Different Learning Curves

One thing I believe about humans is that we are all talented; it is just that some people are in the wrong place and never get the opportunity to discover what they are truly good at.
We are in a country where, sometimes, your talent does not matter as much as survival. This is why you see people who are extremely good at playing football abandon their dreams and go into transport business just to earn a living.
Most people do not follow their passion because there may be no growth or financial opportunity there for them. Sometimes, it is even parents who stop their children from pursuing their passion because they want them to do what is currently in vogue or what everyone else is doing.
When it comes to something that I find difficult to learn, that would be coding. No matter how much I have tried, it just does not seem to stick, and the language looks completely alien to me.
There was a time I was learning it with a friend, but within a few days, I got bored and did not gain much knowledge. Eventually, I gave up because I am someone who does not like wasting time on something I feel I might never become good at.
So, why did I want to learn coding in the first place?
Honestly, it was purely because of money. Coders are earning good amounts of money, and they do not even necessarily need to be employed by others. They can be self-employed, build something that people need, and earn from it.
Some people find coding easy, but for me, it is going to take God’s intervention for me to fully understand it.
On second thought, maybe I am not trying hard enough, or perhaps I just have not found someone good enough to teach me.
However, when it comes to something I find easy, hmmm… the most recent thing I discovered that I could easily learn is farming.
I recently decided to have a garden, and I made that decision for two reasons. The first was to save myself the cost of constantly buying vegetables outside, and the second was because of the news circulating about people using chemicals to speed up the growth of crops. Having my own garden gives me some confidence that the vegetables I eat are fresh and naturally grown.
I started last month by buying seeds of Ugu, Ewedu, and Tete. The Ewedu grew nicely, and we even harvested part of it tonight and cooked it. The Ugu is still small but is also growing well.
The sad part is the Tete, which got infested by insects. They have practically finished it, and I doubt I will be able to harvest anything from it.
But honestly, it has all been fun having my own garden and watching the crops grow.
Once the Ugu grows bigger and becomes ready for harvesting, I believe it will serve me well and save me a lot of money.
Sometimes, discovering what you are good at does not happen because you are actively searching for your talent. Sometimes, you just try something new, and before you know it, you realise, “Wait… maybe I am actually good at this.
