Well, if you feel the system is being unjust to you, I believe you should be able to air your grievances. Last week, a retired police officer talked about how his pension was being mishandled, and it went viral, prompting immediate response. We've also seen videos of soldiers who complain all the time that while they're obligated to follow orders, many of them don't like it or approve of the orders they follow. It's just sad that when you do air your complaints, you could end up pissing so many people off, and that can be bad news for you.
But then, it's not really policy, it's simply personal.
For the police, he was retired already so he deserves to be heard and has the freedom to speak against the force.
For the soldiers however, a lot of them know the repercussions of what they do. Most already sign their death warrants doing so.
I've served in the force before, although it was short lived, I know firsthand the procedures to make complains and how bad it can be if those complains enter the wrong ears...
