A few days ago, I wrote about how some people feel the need to have a mentor, role model, as someone to look up to, get advices from in order to make less errors or thread the right path in life especially for their careers. This does not mean they are of less intelligence but knowing ones capacity to dealing with life most times gives way to preventing vision havoc.

Likewise, a misconception needs to be addressed and changed that being a role model or mentor means you are perfect or the person is not expected to commit errors or make wrong decisions like every other person. This misconception is the real reason behind every mentee following a mentor blindly with no discernment of when to take a pause or even accept their errors as being part of human traits.
Now, if I am to be requested to be someone's role model and mentor, is it something I will accept to do or will gladly and honorably decline.
First and foremost, been requested to do something or take charge of something means you have been studied, observed and deem fit to have the capacity of being offered that position or role so definitely I don't take such opportunity as I would regard it, for granted.
Even if I think I still personally have some aspects where I'm lagging behind in life, it still doesn't erase the fact that I will always be at the middle in life no matter how great or little I think I have achieved in life. I personally would have some people whom I look forward to or see as reference to mirror where I want to be, and same way some people are somewhere looking at me as someone they want to become at some point in their lives. I may think I don't have it all set right but may have it right in the sight of some people. Every recognized achievement is not always about financial access some things you do character wise or creatively attracts people to you.
So accepting such request doesn't mean I'm perfect in character or so successful to be someone's role model but because it's an avenue to see myself more, work better and be sensitive because I'm contributing in building someone's life somewhere and somehow.

I see it as an opportunity and responsibility that challenges and make me more of a better person, not basically because someone is looking forward to me and what I say to them but because even when I had no idea I was been watched or observed and was just doing my thing my way, someone was watching and hoping that they follow my footsteps.
In summary, at any stage of life that I may find myself, I will surely be ready to take up the responsibility of being a role model or mentor, putting someone through, as long as they have actually seen me as someone who could put them through. They came for what they saw even when I didn't put myself out there. So it's a full acceptance from here.
