Leadership goes with Authority

Someone once said that if anyone assumes a leadership position he or she automatically receives grace for that position. There will be that insight on what to do in that person that others may not have. Even what that person can not do on a normal day he or she will begin to do it for the good of the organization or community that is represented.

For week 233 episode 3 which happens to be the final episode we have a beautiful topic that says - Veto Power.

There's a level of power that a leader has called the Veto Power, giving them unilateral authority to overturn any ruling or act, regardless of the consequences.

This particular power is placed on a leader for some reasons. When someone becomes a leader and he can't exercise this power, it means that some people who are not there to make things work will have their way. And also looking at the type of people we have in our society: sone don't just reason before taken any decision, some don't care how people feel when taking a decision, some wants to take a decision that will scatter everyone and everything. Hmmm! If you have people like this under you that means you must have a veto power to say that something stands or it doesn't. With that power everyone will be able to respect the leader because he has the final say about whatsoever that is brought to his table for deliberation.

Considering the consequences too, everyone makes a mistake at some point of their lives. So we can't pretend that a leader should never make a mistake, this will be the biggest lie of the century. If I make mistake, forgive myself and move on why not allow the leader to make his own mistakes while leading and then learn from it. The truth is that sometimes we want people who are perfect. It doesn't work like that. No one is perfect and the earlier we realize that, the better for us. Even if you like bring a pastor or Immam that is well respected into a leadership position, there will still be mistake at some point and that is what shows that we are humans.

WHAT'S THE WAY FORWARD?

Let me use my experience in leadership to explain this part. At some point in my life I was elected as the treasurer of the CWO of my church. ( Catholic Women Organization) During the four years of that leadership I understood that the past leaders were always coming to tell us what to do and how to do it. So we endured it to a level that we couldn't tolerate them again and so we started refusing to take their advises and it became a very big problem. Even when an advice is given the leader should be able to decide on what is good for the community or group. That is why we have that veto power.

So I suggest that people can contribute, advice and make all their suggestions, but the leader should be able to have a final say. If that is not done then the leader will be seen as a weakling because people are looking up to him to stand for them. Decide what's best for them. So if he can't do all of these he should be changed. That is the bitter truth
