DOING THE RIGHT THING FOR THE RIGHT PURPOSE

Welcome back guys to my blog for week 228 episode 1. We are actually beginning with a beautiful topic which says - Client Privilege.

In every profession there is always rules guiding it. Let's take for example the psychologist who have the opportunity of meeting alot of different people and talk about their problems or even a priest or pastor. All these are places where people go to to release the burden in their hearts and sometimes it leads to them making confessions about things that should not be disclosed. Hmmm! Sometimes is very hard to keep some of those secrets especially when you know that it can help someone or some people or even a community.

WHEN SPEAKING TO A DOCTOR

Do you really think that a doctor should reveal the secret of his client who is carrying a deadly disease and wants to marry the doctors sister? Can you see now? There are some secrets that if you have the victim conceal it you will hurt another person and I don't think that God will be happy with that person for helping to destroy another soul. I believe that the best thing to do is to encourage that person to go and make the confession by himself or herself. It is when the person refuse To do the needful that it will be let out and save a soul.

MY EXPERIENCE AS A CANSELOR IN THE CHURCH

One year when we had a church program someone strange came to the venue and sat one place without mingling with others because he doesn't know anyone there. At the course of the program he might one of our daddies in the Lord to tell him what brought him. According to the guy, he came to this town for the first time with some bad gang of armed rubbers. There mission was to go round and steal and if possible waste lives at the course of their mission. It was shocking and he did not want anyone to know he was there. He confessed that he doesn't want to follow them anymore and that is why he ran out of their hotel where they slept and started looking for a church to hide and probably get a pastor to pray for him.

It came to us and we didn't know what to do with this guy. He kept begin that we should not call the police on him because he has done so many bad things that will take him to prison for the rest of his life. We couldn't help to hide him as he requested instead we told him to go back home and tell his wife everything. Surprisingly he is married and his wife doesn't know anything about what he does for a living. He also told us that he came from Lagos state to carry out that operation. After taking much time to talk to him we raised his transport back to Lagos from Nasarawa state and send him on his way. This was a very hard decision for us but we had no choice than to do that. We can't keep him here for long because the law will soon catch up with him and by that time it will be said that we helped to go ide him.

BOUND BY CLIENT PRIVILEGE

Not bringing out whatsoever the client confessed to us in confidence is good, but we need to also make sure we are not helping that person wrongly. Because I believe that if someone is truly sorry for what he did, he should do the right thing by going to confess and also be ready to face the consequences of his or her actions. We all know that ignorant is not excuse for any wrong doing, therefore the offender should be made to face the law and pay for what he did in the past. Forgiveness is also there and that is the more reason why we need to pray that God will go ahead of the person to soften the heart of the people he has offended before.
