Life is a mystery on its own. And it is so surprising that we have to live in a world that we knew nothing about before. We came without knowledge about anything, but as time passed, we realized that even the world was entirely different.
We came to life without religion, we came without a degree, we came without a name, we came without properties, we came without ambition. All we brought along was our destiny. How would such a destiny get to play with our lives?
At times we are left with questions about how we get to live up to our standards without even getting to know exactly what our standards were. Some of us get to believe in the existence of a supreme being, some don’t. We all have our beliefs.
Most of these beliefs are the results of our choices and some are our fates. Those who were born into a Muslim home would believe that's the way and the right path for them to follow. Those in Christian homes would also have the same beliefs. We all have choices later on as to which we think is the best for us.
This is a tricky question. As to what is the reason why we exist?
Are we just crested to live and leave? Or we are created to worship and live, or just created to live and enjoy, or to live and suffer? Which one of these are we destined for??
As a Muslims, we believe that we are all created for a purpose. And that purpose is to worship God in His omnipotence. After worshipping with sincerity and piety then we can go after many other worldly purposes we are created for. Though we already have our purpose ready before we exist. But it's like a game in which we have to keep playing to know which choice we get to make towards determining our purpose in life.
Part of life's mystery is the fact that you just have to be around people. You just have to live among humans and you would need the help of other humans. You have your purpose to serve humanity and so you would need the purposes of others too.
An example of our purpose in life is just everywhere around us. If you own a company, that's your purpose to create employment opportunities for people around you. But you can't fulfill your purpose if you don't attach to yourself the purpose of those who are fated to work under you and make your company grow or perish.
The purpose of a teacher in the life of a student is just way different from that of a parent in the life of a child. A mother can serve the purpose of a parent and also serve the purpose of a guardian while serving the purpose of a worker and a leader at the same time. That's how life is and we get to live in it.
I have my purpose too. But it's most times unclear to determine where and how one’s purpose would head. I might think I am supposed to live as a parent which I am not.
We all have our purpose, apart from the first and most important one to serve God. Another purpose is something we can find by ourselves by threading a part to which we feel our purpose is inclined. That's life for us and we are left with no choice but to live in it. We all come to the world, we live in it, and we are all gonna leave someday…
This is my response to the HIVE LEARNERS weekly prompt in hive learners community for the Week 137 Edition 1 and the topic to be discussed is **WHAT’S OUR PURPOSE? **

You left me in questioning state and posed a strong question about existentialism!
I loved how you were able exclude predetermination from your explanation of purpose. Though to an extent it feels our purpose has been predetermined just like our faith. For instance most people are a product of a particular religion because they were born into the family, a decision had no say in. Only a few get to switch as they grow older and more knowledgeable about want they want for themselves.
It is understandable that our primary purpose is to serve our creator but it shouldn't stop us from finding other purposes that would add meaning to our existence as an individual.
